CPR

Something weighing heavily on my mind since the Corona Virus outbreak is what happens when someone needs CPR? The main reason for my concern is because of personal experience. Today, my mind was put at ease when I saw this video from the Fort Worth Fire Department demonstrating the "new medical devices for EMT to better serve the public and protect the Fire Fighters" amid the pandemic. Please click on the link above to see the new way to save lives!!! This is a HUGE improvement rather than going mouth-to-mouth. The fact that there's a video going inside the victim to better improve survival is very promising and exciting!

DENTIST

Yesterday, I had my first dental appointment since COVID-19. The most stressful part of it was the scheduling, rescheduling, and waiting inside my car until I was called to come into the Dental Office. My hygienist explained to me that all dentists are getting instructions and procedures from various sources that they must adhere to before opening. A few of the chains of command she explained included the ADA, Texas Dental Association, CDC, Department of Health and Safety, the Governor of Texas Office, and many more protocols coming down the pipeline from other authorities. Plus, she explained everything new they have to do before she started.

MASKS

It is mandatory to wear masks in North Dallas Metroplex. As I was sitting in my car waiting for my phone call to come into the Dental Office I noticed fashion trends for many different masks. It seems as if some mask bore a logo or a branding on the mouth. I saw lots of competition and fashion trends! There were restaurants and places that had ATM machines. I must admit, some of the masks I saw made me uncomfortable.

FARMER'S MARKET

Fresh Strawberries from California and local peaches are in season now. I have to say, they are the best I've tasted in a long, long time! The Farmer's Market in Grapevine also has chicken or beef broth. I have purchased the chicken broth and it's much fresher and tastier than anything coming out of a carton on the grocery store shelves. The celery is large and crunchy. Herbs are delicious! Staff superb customer service!

THOUGHTS FOR TODAY

We are moving into and out of isolation gradually. Our souls are yearning for normalcy. Away from chaos. Confusion. Different people are handling things differently. Countless individuals are creating new ideas. Many will be tested. Many lives will be saved. Changed. We are exposed. Although we are moving away from touching it's okay to leave fingerprints on the hearts as if it were a warm and welcoming touch.

Today is a rainy day in Flower Mound.  Like in Rome, Italy we are all on stage. The doctors. Nurses. EMT. Governors. President. Neighbors. Our communities. We are all playing a role to get through this pandemic. Masks, gowns, and gloves are the new fashion. New acts shall follow. In memory of William Shakespeare remember: "The quality of mercy is not strained; it dropeth as the gentle rain from heaven; upon the place beneath; it is twice blessed; it blesseth him that giveth and him that takes."

Lottie Kendall - Exercising patience during the scheduling process was something I'm learning to adjust to. Now that I understand more about what other businesses are going through, it increased my level of knowledge and understanding. We are all going to have to adjust to new legal, regulatory, and compliance in the health industry. Be safe, my friend!

The Merchant of Venice is such a fun play! The last Shakespeare performance I saw was Much Ado About Nothing. I watched it under the stars one evening sitting on a blanket with a glass of wine on a warm and breezy night. Oh! How I love Shakespeare plays!!!

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - Don't be surprised if it gets rescheduled again. Be patient. As explained to me, they are really being watched and trained in new medical practices to protect the consumers and themselves! There are bottlenecks with the CDC causing the domino effect. Everyone is learning! Don't give up!

Nina Hollander - My heart goes out to all patients with MS. We can all help by donating blood more frequently. You and your husband have gone through so much when it comes to recent medical procedures. It has been a trying year for both of you. These are trying times and I pray he'll be okay and that you will have the courage and strength to help him cope. Being the rock is very hard. I'm sorry to hear he waited 7 weeks too long through no fault of his own or yours. I pray the surgery on Monday will be a success and I wish I could be there to give you a shoulder to  lean on while you're waiting.  I pray for God's blessings on both of you. Feel free to call me if you need someone to talk to any time, day or night.

Carol Williams - You are right on all accounts. I really, really like what you said, "Truth be told, we may be safer now than before people were taking such extreme precautions to stay safe." That IS our hope. That IS my prayer.

Jeff Dowler, CRS - Take it slow. Take it easy. Trust your gut. We do not live in a one-size fits all world or society. For example, where I live in TX is nothing like NY. We don't even have subways or public transportation. I was on back-to-back webinars these past few weeks and learned that some parts of Dallas don't even have broadband and the kids aren't getting online education by their teachers. Many of those kids have parents in the "essential service," industries and the kids are unattended! Can you imagine??? This will have a direct impact on education, grades, testing, property values, and so on. Talk about a bump in the road!!! Life is more than just pot holes that need to be filled.

Hi Patricia- as Shakespeare said...all the world's a stage and all the men and women merely players. I have to admit that it has been heartening to see parking lots begin to get full again. And people seem to be in a good mood.

I would much rather go to the farmers market than watch CPR, but it is truly amazing how technology like that can make it that much better.

Patricia, I always enjoy your thoughts and observations on daily life realities. I am not too fond of wearing a mask but I hope designers will soon come up with something comfortable, protective and fashionable for everyday life.

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR - Technology is part of the fabric of our souls and isn't it crazy how much has changed. Ring doorbells. Security/listening devices when showing homes to buyers. Zoom inside our homes. The list just never ends. I'm afraid to say history isn't just been written, it's being recorded, filmed, and part of our permanent records. Yes! We are all on stage and there's no bowing out of the roles we play voluntarily or involuntarily. Isn't it crazy!!!

I'm overdue for an annual wellness exam and have been putting off even calling to set up an appointment!

I hope the rest of your weekend went well, and you are already having a fantastic Monday. :-)

Kat Palmiotti - I would schedule an appointment. You can always cancel before the date. In my case, my appointment was rescheduled by the office three times before I got in. It was either now or 9+ months out.

I think I better schedule my mammogram. I just thought of it! Lucky for me, I saw my eye doctor in December 2019. We had a soaking weekend. About 6 inches of rain in 24 hours in my part of Flower Mound. But the sun shines and I took an early morning walk. Take care and stay healthy!
