Benefits of having a lawyer before making a property transaction

Whether you are a home buyer, property investor or a business looking to build a property portfolio, there are many reasons why you should have a lawyer on board to help you with your property transactions.

Below are the 3 main reasons for having a lawyer before making a property transaction.

Benefits of having a lawyer before making a property transaction

1) Saves Time In The Transaction Process

As all property buyers know, it is essential to keep the process rolling so that you can get the transaction over the line before anyone else could come in and jeopardize the sale.

By having a lawyer on your case to work with you, you can be assured that they will be able to start the sales process right away.

On the other hand if you made an offer on a property which was accepted and you did not have a solicitor lined up to help you would have to scramble to find a lawyer suitable for your needs. This would include looking for quotations of who offers an affordable service and most importantly, is available.

2) Already have an established relationship

One of the benefits of having a lawyer at hand before making a property transaction is the fact that you may already have a relationship built up with your lawyer. It is good to have a working relationship with a lawyer so that they know who you are and can prioritise your needs when required.

3) Can help in future dealings

Continuing on from point 2, once you have an established relationship, it is then possible to continue working with that lawyer in your future affairs. It is always good to have a lawyer that you can work with who understands you and your affairs when future cases may arise.

In Ohio, an attorney is very rarely involved in a real estate transacton unless there are some title issues.

I have never bought a property without a review of the title and loan documents by a lawyer. The good news is the savings have far exceeded the cost of a review.
