Here is one of my Mom old recipes for a cake.

I am a big fan of Will Hamm and his recipes.  I don't see any sugar or grain in this cake so I am wondering if Barbara Todaro will approve or suggest some substations for my particular eating lifestyle.

Watergate cake

This one was around in the mid 70's I think from my mom.

1 white cake mix

1 cup oil

3 eggs a cup club soda

1/2 c nuts

1 box pistachio instant pudding Beat all ingredients except nuts.  Fold in the nuts.  Bake in a 9 x 13 glass baking dish at 350 degree for 30 to 40 minutes.

Cover-Up Frosting:

2 envelopes Dream Whip

1 pkg. pistachio instant pudding

1 1/2 cup milk

Beat well and spread on cake.

Enjoy.

OMG - that cake is everything I would never make!  Sure sounds like something from the 60's or 70's though.  haha.  I have been enjoying baking cookies and muffins from scratch.

I wonder why it is called a Watergate cake? because it has nuts in it?

Morning Brian.

Don't eat a lot of sweets anymore. However, I would probably give this one a try
