Are You SURE You Want Your Name on Everything?

OK, I couldn’t resist.  On our daily walks, there is an agent who walks and rides a bike.  How do I know that this person is an agent?

They arrive and get out of a car with signage on both sides that bears their photo cluelessand name.

The agent and friend are friendly and always wave and say “hello” to all they pass.

HOWEVER...with physical distancing being practiced, this agent seems clueless. As they walk in the middle of the path, everyone they pass is forced to go off the path onto the grass and dirt.

The rest of us walk single file if there are others on the path so that everyone feels comfortably distanced from each other. I’m not paranoid about it but I also respect others that are on the path.

And yes, I know that there are many others who act as if they don’t know or don’t care, but they don’t have their names and business names emblazoned on their cars!

Kathy,

It does not matter what the profession is, courtesy and thoughtfulness should be a given...I often have this thought; "What would we talk about if everyone behaved the way we think they should?"  LOL. Happy Tuesday!  A

Hi Kathy:

You have to wonder whether the behavior extends to their driving as well?!

I see that behavior too often in my area, Kathy. The agent you mention probably has no clue of what she's doing, and the negative impact she is making on others.

Hi Kathy Streib - I absolutely will not put my name or business information on my car.  I personally don't think it is professional. Depending on how it is displayed, it can oftentimes be rather tacky as well.

And your example makes my case!

I have my madnet signs on my car if I am driving ti to a listing or showing homes because I know I drive responsible then.  Other times I take them OFF!@

Oh I so get this one.  For years there was an annoying agent that hiked up the hill saying she was the local neighborhood expert and passing out flyers.  Good grief.  The kicker was she lived no where even close to my area. Yack! Yack! Yack.  Most hikers enjoy the peace and quiet of the preserve not yacking sales people!

You make an excellent point, Kathy.  When I ride my bike, I sometimes come upon small groups of walkers, who are almost shoulder to shoulder talking while blocking the bike path.  Add to it, they are on the wrong side of the street walking the opposite direction they should be in that lane!

I have never quite been able to understand why people act like idiots and label everything they own with their phone number...

Barbara Todaro you have to be who you are but watch that finger of yours.

Grant Schneider this agent should be judging by the looks some of the walkers give the agent.

Donald Urschalitz I don't know where you found this but it's perfect.

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR  it doesn't help the industry either!!

LOL Raymond Henson, SRES, GRI  We see a mixture on our path. Most are aware but there are many who take up the whole walk and when they approach other walkers no effort is made to make room.

Precisely Sheri Sperry - MCNE®  As a consumer, I would wonder about the sincerity of the person.   Is how they treat others how they will treat me?

Will Hamm that's a good way to do it.

Anna Banana Kruchten Arizona's Top Banana! that would be incredibly annoying!!!  No one wants to be confronted with that when you're out enjoying nature.

Kathy it was annoying and not just to me!  I could see people rolling their eyes when they got 'caught' in her talk-a-thon marathon going up or down the hill!!

Morning Kathy.

Unless you know me, you would never guess I'm an agent.  Hardly ever wear a name tag.

I messed up, nothing major, but didn't stop when I should have once while driving with my signs on my car. Never used the signs again after that. I just didn't feel comfortable with my name and contact info on my vehicle. I wasn't meant to be a public figure. LOL

Great points you make here. I’ve been thinking about farming my neighborhood now that I have a new dog and I walk him a lot and am meeting the neighbors I’ve been holding back though until he is calmer and not trying to eat bikers and joggers and small children. Same idea. I don’t want to market myself and be known as That Realtor!

You just reminded me of a time I was driving up the highway (2 lane) at the posted speed when a car came flying around me, just as I was going into a blind corner. The back window of that car had the agent's name and phone number.

I wondered at the time if he was driving (Perhaps he was late to an appointment up at the lake?) or if he'd lent his car to one of his kids. Either way - dangerous driving and bad advertising.
