PA Real Estate given the green light

Mixed news out of Harrisburg yesterday. A bill to re-open real estate was vetoed by the Governor, but at the same time, he announced that real estate, regardless of the colour phase your county is in can resume under specific guidelines. Red, Yellow or Green is no longer relevant for real estate related activities.

This means we can get back to work helping you, our customers and clients. What are those guidelines:

  • Only three people maximum can be in a house at a time, and all must wear masks and stay 6 feet apart.
  • Do not linger in the house to discuss the house, that must be done outside.
  • As much that can be done remotely must be.
  • Showings are spread out with 30 minutes between showings at least and anything a buyer has touched should be wiped down before the next showing, hence buyers agents will need sanitizing wipes with them.
  • All those entering a property must answer a verbal health assessment shortly before the showing, and our State Association has suggested that proof of that should be obtained in writing along with all contact details for those present. Sharing contact details of clients is for tracking purposes should sickness occur, and is covered under the Realtor Code of Ethics, no contacting other agent's clients which might interfere with their contractual relationship.

 

There is the belief that there will now be a rush to see properties as clients can now see homes in person and I expect to see many properties go under contract and new listings to come on the market soon.

Good morning, Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 MA agents are all thankful that we never needed to shut down....we were not able to do open house events....but we listed and sold many properties during the past few months.... "shelter is an essential factor".... we all need a place to live.

Barbara Todaro the order explicitly banned open houses of any type, broker tours, price opinion gatherings etc, but at least people can see a house to make a decision now.

Nina Hollander we shall see what happens and how open sellers are to having people come through their homes.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel the guidelines sent by the state are primarily what our state association sent them, but it is good to know we can work and help our clients again.

Michael Jacobs safety first. I think Scott Godzyk has laid out some excellent tips and protocols in many of his posts.

Michael J. Perry me too, was such a mixed message, I am vetoing the house bill, however....

Roy Kelley if done correctly, the risk can be reduced and we are expected to follow CDC Guidelines and obviously common sense.

James Dray we may see some of that, however the number of homes being listed and back on market seems to say not at the moment.

Brian England that was expressly forbidden in any form, broker opens, public opens, no gatherings of people of any sort allowed.

Hi Nick:

We have similar restrictions for showings, but we never shut down completely. Open houses remain forbidden (public and broker). People seems to be getting used to the routine and what has to be done as a buyer or seller!

Congratulations on getting back to work!  I have been able to show houses but now I am waiting for open houses to start back up and for inventory to start to improve.
