Friday Photo: Artichokes---As Fresh As It Gets!

We found ourselves in the local nursery today, when we noticed that one of our roses had outgrown its pot and needed a bigger home.  As we were wandering about looking for the perfect pot, we spotted this artichoke. In our Los Angeles vegetable patch, we had several growing, and it was always fun to go down to the garden and pick a couple for dinner.

Wishing you all a great rest of the day and a wonderful long weekend

Cheers, Ron & Alexandra

We have quite a few artichokes in our backyard getting ready to be harvested, if I can keep our rabbit from getting them.

I visited my cousins in Sacramento some years ago.  They had artichokes growing in their garden.  They served them as a side dish at dinner, with drawn butter, and taught me the proper way to enjoy an artichoke!

Morning Alexandra.

Just never was fond of those.  Of course, I've only had them, once.

What a lovely picture of an artichoke, Alexandra. Your post reminded me that I've not eaten any artichokes in a long time. And I love them, so don't know why I haven't.

That is indeed fresh!  I am jealous of all of those that grow their own food at their homes.

This post makes me smile.  I wrote a post several years ago; "She Taught Me to Eat Artichokes."  It's one of my favorite childhood memories of my Mother.

What fun!  I would love to be able to grow artichokes and pick some for dinner - but that would require that I have a garden!
