Memorial Day Trash/Recycling Collection Schedule For Charlotte
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Residents Please Note:
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Solid Waste Services WILL NOT provide curbside trash and recycling pick-up on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25th.
PLEASE NOTE that all of Mecklenburg County’s Full Service Drop Centers will close for the Memorial Day Weekend. All Self-Service Solid Waste Recycling Centers will also be CLOSED Saturday May 23 and Monday May 25. All Full Service Centers will open on Tuesday at 7:00 am on Tuesday, May 26. The Recycling Center.
Also, Charlotte-Mecklenburg residents should note that EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, REMAINING SHREDDING EVENTS FOR 2020 HAVE BEEN CANCELLED.

The following tips are provided by CharMeck Solid Waste Services Department:
All garbage should be bagged and no garbage placed outside the cart. Garbage outside the cart will not be collected.
The garbage cart handle should face the house and the lid face the street.
The garbage cart should not be placed on the sidewalk.
The garbage cart should be placed 3 feet away from all objects.
All recyclables should beloose in the cart (no bagging).
Ensure that there are no plastic bags, styrofoam or plastic plates or cups in the cart. Plastic bags aren't accepted and should be recycled at local grocery stores. Styrofoam and plastic plates and cups should be thrown in the garbage.
Tear cardboard into small pieces that will fit loosely into your cart. Please do not fold.
The recycling cart should be placed 3 feet away from all objects.
Cut all tree limbs to 5 feet and makesure they are no bigger than 4 inches in diameter.
Place yard waste close to the curb, 3 feet away from all objects.
Separatiethe yard waste into piles no higher than 3 feet.
Make sure the yard waste piles are 2 feet apart.
Put leaves and grass clippings in untied bags no larger than 32 gallons or in a reusable container that does not have a City logo on it. Bags will be collected and not left for reuse.
Ensure no dirt, mulch, or roots are in the yard waste because the City does not pick up these items.
Bulky waste collection is provided the same day as other collection services, but must be scheduled for collection. All collection items must be placed curbside no sooner than the day before your scheduled collection day and no later than 6:00 am on the day of collection.

Place all items, directly in front of residence, close to the curb, 3 feet away from all objects.
Empty all appliances and remove any doors on appliances.
Place tape in the shape of an X across entire TV screens or any glass.
