I have been looking forward to listing and marketing The Space Shuttle House in Alvin for a few months. At first, the owner wasn’t quite ready to list it, so I had to wait a while. But I had big plans for making the most of the iconic house with a space shuttle carving in the front yard.
During Hurricane Ike, the big tree in the front yard snapped in half. The owner’s wife had a local artist come and carve a space shuttle out of the tree trunk, to honor the husband’s long career at NASA.
Wouldn’t you know … once I finally got to list the house, my marketing plans came to a quick halt when we got an offer on the first day. The Space Shuttle House is now under contract, and the buyers are looking forward to making their new home in the house with the shuttle in the front yard.
The sprawling ranch-style house is on a very pretty half-acre lot with a pool and RV parking. But the most notable feature of the house is the shuttle in the front yard.
I am quite happy that we found a buyer so quickly, but I sure would have enjoyed coming up with creative advertising ideas for this nice home.
