Wordless Wednesday: Words of Hope

Hope Elementary School in the Carlsbad School District is close to my house and we often walk by.

Words of Hope

School is coming to an end for Carlsbad students on June 11th and signs have started appearing in the front of the school to thank the teachers, etc. I thought the play on words of some of the signage, given the school name, was cool.

Signs at Hope Elementary

And this little poem a la Dr. Seuss was clever - a sign of the times!!

Hope Elementary sign a la Dr. Seuss

Nice to see some words of Hope these days!

Hello Jeff - I especially like the Dr Seuss-inspired sign as a salute to teachers at Hope School in Carlsbad.  Congratulations to the students and staff for their incredible work this year.

They have been very creative with celebrations for graduation in lieu of traditional graduation ceremonies.

Hi Bob Crane

Thank you! It was fun to see them and no doubt the teachers and staff appreciate the well wishes. It's certanly not your typical end of the school year!

Hi Grant Schneider I think teaching the kids while at home can be a real challenge. I talked to my daughter (they have 8 and 6 year olds) and it's tough trying to work full time and still be able to help the kids with their Zoom meetings, projects, etc. And the kids miss seeing their friends. Tough on everyone.

I agree Nina Hollander

Sad but true in some cases Wayne Martin

That's a nice thought Michael Jacobs  It's been tough to be a teacher, and perhaps even harder to continue teaching if you have young kids of your own at home!

It's the human spirit, isn't it, Jeff. We passed a car today with signs on it for their teacher. And throughout the neighborhoods, we've seen more signs as well.

Hi Brian England

It's certainly been a different world for the schools, teachers and staff, the students and their parents. It's nice to see the public appreciation. And there are lots of Congrats to Seniors signs.

Agreed Ron and Alexandra Seigel  There are more people out, shops and restaurants are open and you can just feel the difference...a far cry from the ghost town when all this shutdown started.

Hi Kathy Streib

I can't imagine what it must be like for those who were graduating (elelmentary, middle school high school, and college) who could not celebrate in the way they expected. It's been fun to see all the signs everywhere...I've seen lots on cars here, too!

Great post, Jeff Dowler, CRS - I love that poem!  I just feel so bad for the students who could not complete their school in the classroom. Sounds like Hope did just fine though!

Jeff, love that visible, verbal support for the teachers who so richly deserve it, while recognizing the need to focus on restoring normalcy in measured but consistent steps.

Jeff Dowler, CRS - Love this post! Let there be hope for the children! The Dr. Seuss sign was perfect! Those Teachers earned every single penny they earned and those kids deserve a zillion hugs and kisses. The signs were great and hopeful too! God bless the little children.
