A year ago, poster-style exhibits of homes and buildings, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright were on display at Taliesin West in Scottsdale, as part of a collection called "Timeless". I was fascinated with it, wrote on my blog and some of the exhibits can be seen in my blog post now. For those who would like to visit the whole collection, it is still available on the Spoke Art Gallery website. One interesting detail I learned yesterday is that the Taliesin Wisconsin poster glows in the dark - the night sky, the lit windows and the lightbugs.
Today's "Taliesin Talks" - a conversation via Facebook with the artists, whose works were on show, revealed that they are working on new pieces. They will be on display at the second "Timeless" exhibition, which will be taking place at Taliesin West on October 23, 2020!
The live docent tours at Taliesin West are now on hold until further notice because of the COVID-19. However, visiting the website of the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation (https://franklloydwright.org/virtualclassroom-recreate-your-space/), we can see many virtual activities taking place. What caught my attention is the "Recreate Your Space" activity. It is meant for children with interests in interior design, however, anybody thinking of a home improvement project can get a start and inspiration with the free app Magic Plan 2D/3D. We can learn how to use our phone to scan the room we will be re-designing, get its measurements via the app quickly and visualize how we can change it without hurting the environment, painting or knocking walls. It also highlights three important principles of the timeless architect which are as important today - respect the nature of the site, use natural light and think outside the box. If you get inspired to undertake a project, please share your before and after photos in the comments section of this blog. We'll be delighted to see them.
