Motivational Monday...Taking the Bull By the Horns

There are times we see things that need to be done then shake our heads and just a thoughtsay Someone should do something about that.

The other night, after the rioting and looting in downtown Houston, one man saw something that needed to be done. What he did was take the bull by the horns and took it upon himself to do something about it.

Houstonian Brian Irving was watching the news Friday night and was disturbed by the damage that had been done in his beloved city of Houston. He grabbed his pressure washer and headed downtown to clean what he could. He was cleaning at 2 a.m.

Throughout our journey in life, what do we see, shake our heads, and think someone needs to do something?

What if we tried this week to grab the bull by the horns and just do it when we something that needs to be done.

Even if it’s something as small as picking up the trash that someone left on the sidewalk or taking a meal to someone who is sick.

If each one of us does just one thing that needs to be done...can you imagine what this world would be like?!

Initiative is doing the right thing without being told.   Victor Hugo

Hello Kathy - there have been examples in the Los Angeles area where people have stepped forward to address such issues in recent days as well.  Actually, it happens in many places acrosss the world.  And it happens everyday.

Kathy,

I am in agreement with Michael Jacobs .  We as individuals need to highlight what is right on a daily basis instead of what is wrong...Make the right a point of focus...Thank you for highlighting Brian Irving.  A

HI Peter Mohylsky. The Santa Rosa Beach Expert I have no idea where it came from either. I applaud this gentleman who saw a need and just did it.

Barbara Todaro it's sad for everyone.

Kat Palmiotti We can't change what's going on overnight but each of us can make a change.

Nina Hollander my heart is sad as well. People calling the looters "opportunists" when actually they're thieves. What about breaking into a business and stealing the property makes it a non-criminal activity.?!

Kathy Streib it is beyond disgusting! And I have no nice words for those who enable this behavior.

Donald Urschalitz I agree. Good news...positive news doesn't ring the bell for news outlets.

Brian England I have wonder if God is saying to us...it's 2020...get your act together!!!

Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR They're out there but they get too little media time.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 on Saturday, the Houston Police Chief walked alongside the African American protest leader in a peaceful march. That's what needs to be shown.

Wayne Martin Sadly some of our elected officials are granting little or no bond/bail to criminals who are then allowed, for example, to kill an 80 year old woman here. His rights may not have been violated but clearly hers didn't matter.

Michael Jacobs it does and those acts bring life back to my heart.

Thank you Ron and Alexandra Seigel if we watch the news, we will soon all be ready to crawl in a whole. And I am so thankful for what I have learned from you about mindful thinking. I have needed that any my yoga breaths to be with me this weekend.

Kathy

We do not watch the news, just a small on line feed, where we can be aware but not focused...there is so much goodness happening, so many helping each other, that  blows my mind.  Here in the Santa Barbara people are offering free babysitting for those who are working and the kids are usually in camp...Those are the news we focus on.  A

Hi Kathy,
I love this story.  I try to stay informed but not get overwhelmed by current affairs. It's so disturbing.  That said, we can always do something to make the life of someone better.

That is a great example of a great human being.

I'm so tired of all the disturbing and heart wrenching behavior we have been seeing.

Kathy I am hoping to meet "someone" and "Somebody" they are a couple of very busy people.  I like your suggestion about helping them out and taking some of that work off their plate.

Kathy I saw on our morning local news about a guy who did just the same thing only he boarded up windows for stores. The good outweighs the bad by a long shot and we will overcome the craziness going on now. Sooner the better.  I pray for all those young kids and adult men/women who somehow think looting  is the right thing to do.

It has been heartwarming to see volunteer clean up crews here in Sacramento as well.  Between the rioting and coronavirus, I'm beginning to think we should ask the gods for a rebate on 2020.
