Social Distancing in the age of Corona

Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

Yesterday a wedding took place amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.  It took place in Cleveland, Ohio outdoors (you know... social distancing?) in clothes-drenching heat and humidity.

The bride was beautiful (she's my daughter... fortunately she gets her looks from her mother... phew!) the groom was even presentable.

Because the weather was so warm, the ceremony was brief.  We couldn't have the bride's make-up melting, now could we?

The attendees kept their social-distance.. My daughter was very concerned... she didn't want to be responsible for causing any of her guests to contract the Corona virus.

We kept such a social-distance that while the wedding was outdoors at the lakefront, I was sitting comfortably in my air-conditioning back in Chicago.  Her sister (and family) were sharing from California. Yep, it was a zoom wedding.

None of the attendees, parents of the bride, parents of the groom, and family... none of them were physically present.  Just the bride, groom, officiant and zoomographer. But we were totally there in spirit.

Welcome to 2020.  Mazal Tov!

Hi Alan- congratulations to your daughter and her husband and to your whole family. Think of all of the stories that they'll have when they celebrate their anniversaries. I hope you and the whole family get to have a spectacular delayed celebration next year.

I would be sitting and squalling. I'm actually dreading that I'm likely not going to be able to be there when my next grandchild is born.  It totally pisses me off.  BUT of course I'd do exactly what you did.... put on my happy face and share the joy via video chat (zoom or some ofther means).

I'm actually pretty proud of her.  It was a very difficult decision... but very adult.

Mazel Tov and good heath and prosperity to your entire family!    And may your daughter bear children with your sense of humor--a wonderful lubricant in which to live life!

My wife and I "attended" the wedding of the daughter of a good friend last weekend. By "attending" I mean that we sat in my home office and watched on our computer. The ceremony was broadcast from the church using the video equipment the church has installed to provide virtual services to the congregation.

Congratulations, Alan May, on your daughter's wedding. May the newlyweds forever feel the joy of their relationship.

sign of the times, everything seems to be unreal until we get used and many things will be the new normal. I heard that from a friend, make sense but I am not sure I liked it. I am Brazilian and we love hugs, everyone get a hugs, no need a special reason...

From Florida, my best wishes to your daughter and your family. A new life full of blessings and happiness.

Hi Alan,
Congratulations to your daughter, her husband, and both families! It's so disappointing not to be able to gather for such a special occasion.  We're all having to learn to do things differently these days, aren't we?
