Today, we celebrate the birth and independence of the United States of America. While the United States is still fragile with the COVID-19 pandemic, let us not forget to appreciate all of the wonderful things that we do have. Recently, I saw an analogy that I thought was very fitting during the time we are in. The time of so much hatred with riots, the time of concern because of a pandemic and a time of uncertainty with so much unrest. It goes something like this " Democracy is like a Garden and we have to be responsible for it. We have to tend to its care and keep out the weeds."
As we persevere in patriotism and celebrate with fireworks, flags waving, cute 4th of July t shirts and accessories, let us remember the true reason we are celebrating today. And, let us be safe in doing so. No matter how you "Tend to your garden" do it with patriotism, love, honor and respect. The world needs a little more of that.
