That's money!  The meal looks delicious.  I also love the fact that you are able to enjoy your own company.  Many people aren't able to find the gift of "me time" to be a treasure.

A happy 4th of July to you too! Our community, thankfully, is going ahead with the firworks display. And... my neighbors will be shooting off their own display. I just have to decide how far I want to drive tonight to see fireworks.

I could hear some far off last night - not loud enough to bother the dogs or keep anyne awake. When I walked outside to look I could see them far down the valley - too far away to really enjoy.

I'm glad you and your felines found a way to celebrate!

Quietest July 4th ever in my life!!!

No family is coming to visit because of the pandemic. There are no parades, no large city fireworks displays for the same reason. Our local park which is usually packed with activities and events for at least a couple days, is going to be silent from all that! In many ways, other than those illegal fireworks outbursts, one wouldn’t know this holiday was here at all.

That looks yummy. Enjoy that nap. Mom was a lightweight in that department too. She liked a brew but liked wine even better. But two was her limit. Happy 4th pandemic style.

Myrl this will be a much different 4th of July for my family this year, and I would expect it to be very different for many other families as well.  But I am sure we will all make the best of it, and still make it a Happy 4th of July.

Haha, I read this on Facebook too. It gave me a good chuckle because we went through the same in our area with illegal fireworks. Tonight should be like a war zone. Oh well, it's going to be over in a day, or so.  Your meal sounded fabulous. D

Hello Myrl - Happy Independence Day.  I am not much of a beer drinker but a nice nap sounds like a fine way to celebrate.   That is until those fireworks start or those hiccups make a return.

We dined on grilled skewered prawns this evening. Accompanied by a nice Italian Pinot Grigio.

Now, between the legal "safe and sane" fireworks going off in the immediate neighborhood and being assaulted by the crashes and booms of illegal fireworks, the noise is like a sound track for a war movie.

Happy 4th of July to you and to all!

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat - I can tell you that if my husband heard lobster tails, brussel sprouts, and jasmine rice, his eyes would light up and mouth would water!

Living in a tourist area, we don't normally go out on holidays.  So for us, this was a typical 4th of July.  We do have the kids come over every Saturday so besides putting up flags...nothing different.

Hi Myrl:

What a delicious meal you prepared. You must have had such fun treating yourself as cook and diner, with a great bottle of beer+ to top it off. Hope you had a wonderful holiday, despite the fireworks. I was rather surprised it wasn’t all that noisy here; given all the big shows were canceled I would have thought the residents would have been doing more. We have had family here so that’s been wonderful.

Jeff

Myrl

You are such the treat to come and read about your great cooking prowess. Bologna sandwiches are getting old.

As for my two companions, left and right hand. NO not in that way, just slapping me silly. Your two, Reuben and Camilla, sure beat mine.

As for things here, with the recent spike in cases, from about 230 to w30 in one week, they shut things down again. No more indoor dining nor wine tasting. Some wineries have gotten creative and are now tasting outside.

Hopefully, one day soon, Don Giovannis or someplace neat in your area. Truly looking forward to such, cheers cvc
