My Holiday at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital

After severe abdominal pains, I self diagnosed my problem a possible appendicitis. I went to the emergency room at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital on the 4th of July and spent the day with testing before my diagnosis was confirmed. I spent the night on IVs and had a Laparoscopic Appendectomy on Sunday morning. I was able to go home on Sunday afternoon. I now need to take it easy for a couple of weeks. Seniors need to know that appendicitis is not restricted to younger people. Be alert if you have symptoms and get immediate medical attention.

Do not hesitate to object when you encounter a hospital employee without a mask. Early Sunday morning, the man sent to draw blood for my blood test was unmasked at Holy Cross Germantown Hospital. He said he knew that he was supposed to wear a mask.

What is Laparoscopic Appendix Removal Surgery (Laparoscopic appendectomy)?

Roy- I'm so glad that you are home and hopefully resting!!! And that is such a good reminder that you need to require that anyone attending you wear a mask!

What a wonderful story with a happy ending...Laparascopy is so much easier on the body.  I have seen them performed.  Glad you are home under the loving care of your lovely wife...A

Morning Roy.

Sorry to hear about your health, but on the bright side you recognized the problem.  I had mine taken out decades ago

Hi Roy Kelley - I am so glad you are OK.  As much as I dislike wearing a mask, not wearing one in a hospital is unconscionable.  I had a relative who used to check out the bathrooms in a new restaurant before eating there.  They were looking to see if there were hot water and soap for employees to wash up.  Very similar situation. Unfortunately, we all must wear masks when we cannot physically distance.
