Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Evolution - 447 Boston Street, Suite #5, Topsfield, MA 92593-B

That's a good question. The answer IMO is NO! There's more to FSBO than people think of. The folks at KCM have put together this infographic containing the basic reasons for not being a FSBO. If you do decide to go that route you will find out quickly the inconvenience, time, legalities, and paperwork could be overwhelming and a big pain in the... lol

Think You Should For Sale By Owner? Think Again

Think You Should For Sale By Owner? Think Again [INFOGRAPHIC] | Keeping Current Matters

Some Highlights

  • For Sale By Owner (FSBO) is the process of selling real estate without the representation of a real estate broker or real estate agent.
  • According to the National Association of Realtors’ Profile of Home Buyers & Sellers, 35% of homeowners who decided to FSBO last year did so to avoid paying a commission or fee. But, homes sold with an agent net 6% more than those sold as a FSBO according to Collateral Analytics.

Hi Doug Dawes - I think most of those signs will end up with an agent.  Some people have to be shown.

Hi Doug Dawes I've been a listing broker for 42 years and I have never listed my own properties, even if E& O insurance would cover the transaction..... most will not if the listing is in your name.....many agents don't realize that..

and I paid a full commission to the listing office/listing agent and they paid the co-broke a full cooperating fee.... and I've owned 23 units that I've bought and sold....

There are always going to be sellers who think they can do it by themselves and reap the benefit. There are a number of risks, it's likely they will net less money, and in this time of Covid-19 there are plenty of procedures to be aware of.

Of course I agree with you...however, will say I did just close a FSBO last week, it was the perfect house for my buyers and the seller actually knew what he was doing!  He priced it right, had a disclosure ready and was easy to work with.

Among the many reasons why most people should not go FSBO - they don't know what they don't know. It's a good way to get in trouble.

You've just given me the title of my next blog!  Actually a buyer called me after buying because she used a friend in the business, which is actually the next best thing to being a buyer without an agent due to the reason for her call to me! Anyway, loved your post. Buyers and sellers need us now more than ever!
