Now more than ever many people are working from home. Whether you're new to having a home office or are like me and have been working home for years, you've probably noticed that your desk area can become an unorganized mess pretty quickly.
Now, when I say "home office, I'm using this term fairly loosely. I know some of you may not have an entire room dedicated to your home office and may just have an area in your house where you work.
Heck, maybe your dining room table has now become your home office. These tips will also be helpful to you as well.
Below you'll find some simple ideas for decluttering your office space and keeping it that way. Comment below and let me know how you keep your home office organized.
Easy Home Office Organizing Tips
1. Clear off your desk at the end of the day.
This tip is actually easier than it sounds. If you take even five minutes a day to clear off your desk and put things in their proper spot, your desk will never become unmanageable.
Not only that but when you go to work the following day, having a clean workspace will really boost your mood (well that and coffee haha).
Walking into a mess is never a great way to start the day.
2. Create a home office command center.
Creating a central hub in your home office will help you stay organized and productive.
This designated area might include things like:
- Calendars
- Bulletin boards
- Mail organizers
- Important binders/files you need to reference frequently
- Whiteboard
- Other items you use daily
3. Don't go overboard with office supplies.
Sometimes less really is more when it comes to office supplies. Now I know there are basic office supplies we all need and I'm not saying to go without them.
Now I'm guilty of being an office supply hoarder, so no judgment here lol. You wouldn't believe how many types of pens, highlighters, and markers I have.
The problem of course is the more office supplies you have the more potential there is for clutter.
Try to stick with office supplies you actually need. If you do buy multiples of an item (which is common), make sure you have a separate area for all those extra items. If you put everything out all at once it can lead to too much stuff on your desk.
