Today we set out on a quick 3 mile hike in Patapsco Valley State Park, but decided a couple miles in to take the path less traveled. We are frequent visitors, and know our way around "our" part of the woods pretty well. Today though, we were curious, and feeling adventurous, and on a whim, turned onto an unfamiliar path. 3 miles turned into 9.5, one hour into more than four. We got lost in Patapsco Valley, and it was glorious!
We cooled off in the Rockburn Branch, feasted on wild raspberries, and stumbled upon an old graveyard, and something that resembled an old gas station pump (?). We truly appreciated the Maryland Environmental Trust and all this land forever protected has to offer us, and even had a rare encounter with a black squirrel!
While squirrels and I are not best friends (I had to evict them once or twice from my attic), this black one was gorgeous, and the first of its kind I've ever seen.

When was the last time you took the path less traveled?
