Tournament of Roses Parade Canceled

Rose Bowl Football Game Still Possible

After a Zoom Class this afternoon, July 15, 2020, I learned the Tournament of Roses Parade which is held each January will be canceled for 2021 due to the impact of the coronavirus.  The announcement came from the pasadenastarnews.com and and as of 1:45 pm local time are still being formulated.

The photo in this post is from the 2015 parade.

Michael- when I heard the news this afternoon I thought of you and especially the posts you wrote about the parade and the floats. I'm very sorry to see this happen.

Morning Michael.

Just curious, how many times has this happened?  I know it is a big draw for the area

Michael, I heard this on the news last night, and immediately thought of all the gorgeous posts you have done over the years on the Rose Bowl Parade.   Sad....

I remember each year how you used to show us your photos of the parade Michael. Must be exciting being there in person. Lots of people will be disappointed to the news!

James Dray - it has been reported that this will be the fourth time, the parade has been canceled.  The other three occured during WWII according to sources we know such things.

Wayne Martin - yes.

Joan Cox - it's a part of the times.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - people can be resilient,  Safety matters.

It seems that parade is a big deal for TV too, I am surprised they didn't decide to conduct it virtually and air it on TV.

I had heard that plannings for the next year parade started as they remove the flowers from the float. What a let down this must be for the organizers...

Hope all is well with you personally, Michael Jacobs

Brian England - a lot of people are involved in the preparation of the day's events.  All said, I believe it was a wise decision.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS - the TOR(Tournament of Roses) has a long history in Pasadena and signs of its influence on the city are many.

Hi Michael... these kinds of announcements about the cancellation of so many "traditional" events that seem to have been around for all if not most of my life make me sad. I understand why... but it's still sad.

Nina Hollander - the announcements keep coming, don't they?  Understanding the reason doesn't make it any easier.

Roy Kelley - the parade gets worldwide attention.  It seems the announcement received a lot of news coverage as well.

Normally I would say...that is crazy, it is too far off, but in this case so much planning must go into the parade. They would need to know if it can even possibly happen. Poor hotels, bars, restaurants that make a killing during the event.

Michael, all this is so sad, as so many long time events have been canceled.  Now that many of the baseball players are testing positive for COVID, it won't be long, and we won't be able to watch baseball either.
