Only One Conductor

When selling a house, there can only be one conductor.

More and you get some not so pleasant sounds. I'm getting ready to list a property, and there rules to follow for the owners.  No, you do not allow friends and family in because they may know someone who MAY be interested in your house.  No one comes in without going through me. Make me the bad guy. Your sister in law's niece's ex- brother in law's recently married son, has to talk to me.

Just this morning, my newest property just let a neighbor in because they 'might know someone.' If I am going to represent you, let me do my job!

A quick talk with both husband and wife will stop this in the future. Well-meaning owners can innocently "give the farm away."

There are rules to follow. There is only one conductor to have beautiful sounding music.

Let the leader, aka listing agent, set the tone!

You make an excellent point, Margaret.  Especially, during these pandemic times which require more safety protocols to be in place!

Hello Margaret - there's a reason why things are done in a certain way.  Once people understand, they "get it".

Margaret- I wonder how many times this happens!!!  When our good friends were selling their home I had to remind them not to let anyone into their home unless they have an appointment and are represented by their agent. And I reminded them to leave for the showing.

Kathy Streib  Way too many times if they don't know the rules. It is up to us to educate our sellers and explain why they are not to do any showings without us.

Hi Margaret.....some sellers just don't realize the folly of 'maybe' they'll be interested and letting folks in without calling their agent first.  I haven't had a seller do that but within the last 10 years or so a seller let a stranger in the house!  WHAT?  That is so not a wise idea. Always, always call me first and I'll check them out and figure out if they're truly a buyer or worse. I shared with them a few stories I knew about when sellers did that....never happened again.
