Motivational Monday… Getting Excited Over Alcohol (No...Not That Kind!)

Since the beginning of the year, many of us have discovered bare or empty shelves of items that are needed. For example, there was the infamous toilet paper run or liquor stores running short of vodka that clorox wipes and alcoholcould be made into hand sanitizer.

Larry loves to bake so I was able to stock up on flour and sugar,  however, there were a few weeks when we could not find bread flour and he ended up ordering yeast from who knows where.

So when I ran into Target Sunday morning and found a large bottle of alcohol and Clorox-like wipes I couldn’t wait to share the news with Larry!  Up until a month ago, you couldn’t find any alcohol or wipes.

It’s funny how the little things in life can bring us so much joy and happiness if we just open our minds to it.

I could complain about not being able to get a disinfectant spray or other items but where would that leave me?  I’d become that old lady everyone wants to avoid.

Choose to be grateful for what you have and you’ll find yourself forgetting about the things you think are missing.

Be grateful for what you have and stop complaining - it bores everybody else, does you no good, and doesn't solve any problems. Zig Ziglar

I finally found hand sanitizer in Walmart. That was a nice surprise. I had two little bottles forever that I had been using prior to that so it was nice to find some after so long without finding any. We had a toilet paper shortage now we have a coin shortage so only cards at the store which is what I use anyways.

Hello Kathy,  we still do not see toilet paper in stores after 4 pm in stores here.  Lucky you found some wipes and alcohol.

Good morning Kathy Streib ,

What a great find! It is the simple things in life that can make us happy. This is one of my favorite quotes of Zig Ziglar.

It was like Christmas I am sure.  I have a friend with a diabetic teen and she was having an awful time finding alcohol and she needed it desperately.  So glad we are seeing it more in the stores.  Have an awesome Monday!

Kathy,

Imagine how we are happy now for all those little things we took for granted?  and I think the lesson for all of us is: we should take nothing for granted...A

Kathy it is funny how excited we get today over things we use to take for granted just a few months ago.

Hi Kathy Streib - It is truly amazing the little things we take for granted as others have said. I am not sure that I will go so far as to say that we should not take anything for granted. By that, I mean that our mind or brain is not built that way. It is a great thought to feel blessed for what we have. But our mind is moving faster than we can comprehend. Until the thought comes into our mind, and stays there, we can't acknowledge it.  (I hope that makes sense? It does in my mind..Haha)! How many times have you driven down a road and missed a turn because your mind was thinking of something else and was on auto-pilot!

Wayne Martin both items are still hard to find!

Nina Hollander you have to go at the right time and even then, they don't always have it.

Barbara Todaro I always try to have those items around but since this started, I've been trying to buy things when I see them, if not for me but then for family, friends or neighbors who might need them. And with classes starting soon, I'm sure my niece will be going through hand sanitizer.

Kathy I laughed when I read this on FB!  We've got a stash of all the stuff we need. But I haven't seen anymore since the whole P first started.

Hi Sharon Lee I haven't paid cash for anything in months. If you're near a Target, you can try them for sanitizer but go early.

Brian England I do my best to keep smiling!

Hi Will Hamm I go early because there are fewer people there then and you can usually find the supplies you're looking for.

Hi Dorie Dillard CRS GRI ABR Most of us realize that the older we get.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty we spend so much of our younger years trying to accumulate as much "stuff" as we can and then when we're older, we have no idea what to do with it.

Norma J. Elkins I saw on my Nextdoor app where a neighbor needed alcohol for her child too and several neighbors offered their bottles.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel I have learned to never take anything for granted.

George Souto it really is. It's nothing like the Neiman Marcus sales I used to go to! LOL

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® it's even harder in the time we live in because everything travels at a faster pace. How can we appreciate what we just whizzed by.

Shopping is really hit and miss these days.  I wanted to buy an Oregano plant the other day.  Lowe's and Home Deport had other kinds of herbs, but not Oregano.  I gave up, and while shopping for something else at Walmart, found it there!

We have full containers of wipes in our two bathrooms, and one in each of our cars. The ones in the cars are both close to empty....like 2 wipes left! I was so excited to see the kid stocking the shelf with wipes in grocery store yesterday. What perfect timing, I thought, until I got closer and saw he only had one scent....the one I cannot stand. No wipes for me. LOL

We don't own hand sanitizer (can't take the scent)  and haven't used any throughout this whole mess.
