It's Sunday what are You Doing?

By
Real Estate Agent with Marie Avery/RE/MAX Alliance Group

It's Sunday.  A day of rest. However, how many of us like myself have an appointment to show property or to list property?  Guilty.

Don't we need time for ourselves, our families, our friends? Don't we need to refuel in order to be able to give our best peformance the rest of the week?

I don't know about you but I've been working 10 to 12 hour days. I guess harder not smarter? But where do you cut. Do you come in to work late so that your paperwork backs up? ( I know what you might be thinking but I do have a full time assistant, so that's not the answer) or do you reject the after hour appointments(our bread and butter)?

If you've come up with a solution. let me know.

Well got to go to "Sell" a property. Wish me luck!

Hi Russ,

Thanks for the comment. It's true on both counts.

Marie - today, I am taking a rest and enjoying just surfing around and making comments on AR blogs.  And shortly, I will be heading out to lunch to celebrate my birthday with my family.  Don't work too hard, slow your pace and enjoy the sunshine.  See my latest post...

I don't believe I have taken a break since the beginning of 2008. I tried to go to Laughlin, Nevada but of course my laptop and phone were on and going crazy non-stop. I did actually enjoy a few hours in the middle of the night, gambling a little. I to work 10 to 14 hour days, hard work pays off. There will be plenty of time later for breaks maybe even vacations.

You are right.  It's hard to slow down when the market is like it is.  But you do need some time to play!

Sundays, unfortunately, are not days of rest.  Most clients work full days - a lot of them more than 8 hour days and some more than 10 hour days.  On Saturday they have family things to take care of, shopping to do, cleaning, etc., which leaves Sundays to look at homes.

I try to take a day of rest during the week - if you consider catching up on personal stuff, and paying bills, running errands, shopping, etc. - rest - then I do take a day during the week, or chunks of time from a couple of different days.  What I haven't managed yet, is a day ALL to myself ... but I'm getting better at it.  At least I've scheduled into my day - walking/exercise and weight training - regularly, just like I schedule client appointments.  Now I have to learn to do the same just to do nothing at all, or maybe get a facial or a pedicure, etc.  Now that would be nice. :)

Hi,

Today is Sunday again. Whew! the week went by quick. I am taking a day of rest. Sleep in late, do a few errands around the house. I'm going to try to not even leave the house. Today I will take a breath and enjoy the day, so tomorrow I will be refreshed for what the week brings me. Thank you for all your support.
