Things can definitely be said in a number of different ways and some might be offensive.

Absolutely Paul.  I think most folks get wiser over the years about 'knowing' what to say and how to say it, to give a thoughtful response, with kindness or sternness if that's what the situation requires.  Both can be handled with good outcomes if one has mastered good communication skills.

Hi Paul- I can relate to that. Many times the thought is in my head but I search for how to express it. 

Taking a moment to recognize the intent of any communication is often very helpful, at least for me. Care and respect for others feelings is very important.
