Well here we are we the last day of July 2020, the year is more than half over, and we are on the verge of beginning the fifth month of the Pandemic. Nerves are frail, many short-tempered, others are simply worn out and others are on an emotional roller coaster ride. Some people are paralyzed by fear and some are just blissfully unaware. Unless you are a dog or cat in a good home, because clearly they are loving having their humans home 24/7, it is not a good place to be mentally, emotionally or financially. If you fall into any of these categories I mentioned, you need to step back and reevaluate.
Other than the Pandemic, what else is going on? It is an election year, and politicians are pandering to their base and trying to capture others not in their base. No matter what side of the political aisle you are on, your emotional wellbeing is not being helped by BS being pushed out by politicians for their selfish gains. There is no balanced news media anymore; depending which channel you watch, read or listen to, each one is pushing its own agenda too. I miss the days when news was just reported, and viewers and listeners could make up their own mind.
Then to boot, our beloved platform, Active Rain, is on a fritz and has certainly seen better days of platform stability. Now when I visit the website I close my eyes and cross my fingers that I can actually sign on to the platform - and it’s the same ritual when it comes to writing a post or making a comment. This just adds to making life even more challenging. The Active Rain community has been my family since (hard to believe) 2008! Active Rain is where I learned to blog and built relationships that have lasted much longer than I originally expected. Who knew you could become friends (and I don’t use that term lightly) with people you’ve met online? The friends I’ve made are too many to name but they know who they are and I most grateful that they except me as I am with my strengths as well as my faults.
I originally came to this platform to get referrals, and over the past 12 years I have received a few. From a business perspective, I learned how to blog and thus established many client relationships who only knew me through my blog posts. These were primarily international clients so with that I say thank you to Active Rain for teaching me how to blog and develop a niche market of international buyers and sellers looking to buy or sell properties in Beverly Hills as well as the Greater Los Angeles area.
Clearly, I am results motivated vs. money motivated; hence I get annoyed with people who are not straight shooters like me. Diane tries to keep me toned down so that the Airborne Ranger Infantry Captain gets mellowed to act more like a Beverly Hills Realtor. Gratefully she is not there when I make some of my comments but people who read my posts and comments get to see both sides. I am a perfectionist and a leader, hence I expect the same from others. At least by the time buyers and sellers get in touch with me directly, they have a good idea of who they are about to work with.
I close by sincerely saying that the Active Rain members with whom I’ve become friends will be my friends for as long as I am above ground. I hope they feel the same about me. Together we have seen people marry, have children, suffer loss, retire or simply move on. Some we’ve even had the pleasure of meeting in person. The bottom line is we have become family and often with family not everyone gets along or connects all of the time. As is life, so is Active Rain.
I have been a Realtor in the greater Los Angeles area for the past 23+ years. The benefits and integrity I bring to the table are the reason I have many repeat clients. Simple as it sounds, I list and sell any day that you reach out to me. I have somewhere between 15-18 listings and 2 or 3 just sold or just put into escrow. What is the secret? I answer my phone and give straight advice; so straight that some people think I am talking them out of a sale. Well yes that might be true, but I sleep well at night.
Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments.
