Have you noticed that over the last few months, the Saudi's refused to increase production, saying there is no need. Lately, over the past few weeks, the talk of us actually exploring for more of own has been rising. Today, I just heard the Saudi's have decided to open a new oil field and increase production. It seems to me that everytime they think we are getting serious about that, they do what they have to do to bring the price down, just enough to take away our incentive to produce more of own. I hope someday we are totally energy independent, but it will take many years and many changes. But while we work toward that, our economy runs on oil and we have to remember that.

The US does not want to use our own oil in cases of emergencies and capabilities to control the market in due time. They, more than likely increased production b/c one of our reps goes their to beg, cries, scream and kick. luckily it works everytime, we hardly see the benefits from it though.

VERY good point. It hadn't even occurred to me that they were covering their own butts by doing that. Hmmm... good deeds sometimes are masking sinister motives. I need to be more discerning. Yesterday I blogged about what a relief this would be.

I did not hear that. We can start independence, but it will be a very long time in coming. There is mass hysteria all over the place, even in England and South Korea ..... the truckers are parking their trucks. There is too much money to be made by government importing oil ..... don't know when they will ever learn that the Saudi's are not our friends!

Good Post. Its just SUCH a BUMMER to be controlled by another country this way!! If we don't do something really soon, we may see us no longer being the # 1 power of anything.
I remember when We were number 1 in just about eveything. Its really scary sometimes how times have changed some things. Of course we have had a lot of changes that can be positive, such as computers and things that are more green then they were when I was young. Things like Paint that is lead free, asbestos removal etc. Maybe thinking outside the box is really needed. I, like you hope that we are working towards being more independent. I guess only time will really tell.

We have created our own situation with oil! We have all the oil we need, if we would only drill for it!! But we refuse to do that for fear of an oil spill or changing the course of the migrating caribou or some other nonsense! We refuse to drill in the Gulf of Mexico because a spill could cripple tourism! What a crock! The Cubans are allowing the Chinese to drill in the Gulf! That is 200 miles off our coast!! It is time to take a stand against the liberal enviromentalist before it really is to late!
Nobody loves the enviroment and wildlife more than I do, however oil exploration is essential, if we want to free ourselves from being held hostage by the rest of the world!
