Artisans Gallery – Peter Koronakos
We're so excited to announce that it is time again for First Fridays annual ABC animal show by Peter Koronakos. This year its a little different The MAH will have it online with a virtual First Friday and in the front windows of the store so everyone can admire in a safe way that works for them. The MAH will still have a scavenger hunt for objects with the prize being at $25 gift card. Just ask at the front door or email them for scavenger hunt form. They are open Mon.-Fri. from 1-4 and by appointment. In case you don't know about the wonderful work of Peter Koronakos, here is little background. The stuff and junk we produce and use speaks to him--"The twist of wire in the street, the debris left over from a house remodel, the plastic toy found in the dirt, the .38's found in my grandmother's sewing basket, the paper and photos and rusted steel and old machine parts, the wooden spoon from the flea market, the fragments of safety glass in the parking lot of, the bits of washed up and worn smooth junk on the beach-all speak to me. I am attracted to the history they embody, the patterns of wear and use, the evidence of being part of someone's life. I find and gather and collect all manner of materials and use them in assemblage pieces, sculptures, mixed-media constructions."
