HOW DO YOU GET FROM IDAHO FROM HAWAII?
Ok, here it is!
When we moved to Hawaii in the early 2000s, there was quite a complicated process involved to relocate oneself to the most remote Island chain in the world. The logistics, housing, jobs, businesses. Hard to put one's head around it all at once.
I was lucky to quickly establish a real estate and property management company on the Big Island. Ok, it wasn't luck, it was hard but satisfying work.
After a short time in the business, I took note that many of the calls I received from folks wishing to make the same move to the Islands, and for the most part, they asked the same questions.
People who wanted to make a living on the Big Island themselves. Sorting through job opportunities, buying a home, logistics of the area. Different weather climates and why an oceanfront acre of land on the Kohala Coast up north was $20M, and an acre on the ocean 30 miles south (Ocean View) was 5 thousand dollars (it is true).
Thus the blog "Moving to Hawaii for Dummies" was born, well-received, and often visited.
Fast forward to today, having moved to Sandpoint three years ago, and once again in the real estate business, I hear many similar questions.
However, these questions sound more like, "WOW! Moyie Springs is so cheap, I think I'll move there, it's not too far from Sandpoint". Or, "I like that place that's five miles down that single lane dirt road," or "I LOVE the idea of being off the grid and getting away from it all."
Moving to Idaho for Dummies has been born.
