My sales manager Richard, at Coldwell Banker called me into his office one day back in 2010, very much during The '07-'11 Crash, after hearing me on the phone all stressed out with a "short sale negotiator"🙄. Apparently was being very vocal about it...who me?
Richard said, "Tommy, you're going to burnout or have a heart attack if you don't stop taking yourself and this business so seriously." I was shocked at this statement. "How can I not take real estate seriously?" I retorted. He said, "Look, people hire us to be the calm in their storm, and if you coming apart at the seams, how can you serve them properly?"
He continued with a smile, "I want you to smile more, breathe more and realize this isn't life or death, it's real estate. It is important we do it right, but save the drama for your mama."
