The Eve of 9-11 May We Never Forget

I saw this today and it really hit home. Today is the eve of 911 and at this very moment there are parents reading their children bedtime stories. There are husbands and wives rushing to complete last minute packing. Somewhere there is a firefighter hoping for a decent night sleep on a cot somewhere in the firehouse and there is a hospital praying for a slow night. This is life as many of us know it. We go about our day and our nights like we will get a thousand more never once stopping to think it could very well be our last. Who thinks like that anyway? I know all about how we are suppose to live for today, seizing moments and being thankful for the day and not worrying about tomorrow because mostly tomorrow is out of our control, but.....

This poem says it all. None of us knew what 9-11-2001 would bring. Not one of us. Morning started out normal and then the world was brought to its knees. I don't think I've ever seen humans act so kind, loving or have the togetherness as we all seemed to have that day and on 9-12-2001. I don't think any of us will ever forget where we were, what we were doing or forget the sheer panic and disbelief we carried on our faces.

Tonight is the Eve of 911. The day that the world change so many. The day that lives were lost and the American people vowed to take down the evil that buried their friends, neighbors and loved ones beneath the rubble. We will never forget.

Hi Kat:

Thank you for sharing this. Today I was thinking about the fact that tomorrow is 9/11, once again, and all the memories of that horrific time.  What a powerful poem!

Hope you are well!

Jeff

It's so hard not to think about tomorrow. When I saw that poem today, it took my breath away just knowing how tonight was like so many other nights for many. Thanks for commenting, Jeff! Nice to see you!

Kat DeLong - I wanted to thank you for posting this heartfelt poem and your blog. Thanks to Jeff Dowler, CRS I got here as soon as I could!

It's the kind of poem that goes straight to your heart. Last night I was up late and watched a show with never before footage of the day before and the morning after with photographic images by artists that worked on the top floor of the Towers. It was absolutely gripping and I couldn't stop watching because it was so tastefully done and powerful. I'm really convinced great artists are heavenly creatures who sees the world through eyes others can't even imagine.

I really appreciate you putting this out there and I'm glad I stopped by to visit with you!
