“Many Families Moving in Together”
Another change of plans Joe,
As you know we have been home searching for the last couple of months. We were with my parents over the weekend that live in NY and we’ve made the decision to find a home that is large enough for all of us. My parents are retired and were considering moving into an assisted living facility, but at this point that isn’t going to happen.
We will both be selling our homes. My parents will immediately put their home on the market, they told us that the home should bring between $650,000 and $700,000. In this price range they feel the home will sell very quickly. There is no mortgage, but they have a $46,000 home equity line.
Our plan at this point is that we start looking in New Haven County instead of Hartford County. Share a Realtor referral when you get a moment.
Will be contacting our accountant to discuss the best way to handle ownership, but my folks have recommended that we purchase in our names only, but again will discuss with Rich over the next couple of days once we have a direction. Will talk Soon Joe.
I don’t recall a time that I have seen as many families moving in together, especially involving a parent. There are so many factors, but one huge one is not wanting a parent or parents to move into assisted living facilities.
