3 Ways to Use the "Join ActiveRain" Referral Link

By
Education & Training with Executive Director of Education at eXp Realty

Have you considered inviting others from your TEAM to ActiveRain?  How about your Lender, Loan Officer, Realtor, Stager, Title Company, Attorney or Inspector?  Don't forget your Processors, Property Managers, Financial Planners and your Insurance Broker.  Maybe you'd like to open an invitation to guests and visitors on your Blogs or Websites.

You've seen other members doing it
, and you are probably already aware that points are given not only for inviting others who join, but when they sign up and become active, you are rewarded additonal points based on their activity. 10% to be exact, which adds up quickly.  There are 3 ways you can do this.

The FIRST way is with the "Internal ActiveRain Referral Invitation."

  • Click the link    at the top of this page.
  • Next Click in the lower left corner of your screen.

  • Now follow these 4 easy steps, and your invitation is complete.
(with this method, you can only send one email at a time)

The Second way is to use the "Referral Link" that is provided on the same page as your email invite:
The referral link looks like this: http://activerain.com/action/referrals/activebrad (shown below)  This is the URL or web address you'll need to create links demonstrated ahead.

You can create a Hyperlink from any word or image by using the URL address above.  Just replace my username with yours and Bingo, you've got a text or graphic link inviting others.  This could be used in your email signature, a mailing to your email database, or even as a link on your webpage, Blog post, or Profile.  (This method allows you to send multiple invitations) NO SPAMMING, note the text disclaimer in RED above.
Here's a sample:
Just highlight your text [You're Invided!], click on the and add the url that looks like http://activerain.com/action/referrals/YourUserNameHere - and now you'll have thisYOU'RE INVITED!

The Third way, and it seems to be the most requested lately, is to create a custom image, graphic, icon, or photo as your invitation, and then place it on your Blog, your Webpage, or your email etc.  I used this one as a sample.  I customized it using Paint Shop Pro.  You can use Picnik.com to create some pretty cool stuff.  There's also ImageChef.com, Button Maker and many other sites out there, and they're all FREE.

You can create your own custom button or you can even use animated images and photos if you like.   Go ahead and click on them and see how they work, you don't have to join again, just check the links and see that they're functional.

Here's what you do:  Once you create and  import  an image, just link the same "Referral Link" you used on the text, but now apply it to your image or clipart instead.  To do this:
Click on your image one time, then click on the to insert your URL: it should look the same as before: http://activerain.com/action/referrals/YourUserName  Now you know how to link anything to anywhere.

To use an animated graphic like the frog as a link, you'll need to have that image hosted
on a server somewhere out on the internet.  There are plenty of FREE ones you can use, just Google Search the keywords "Free Animated .Gifs

Hopefully this helps those who have been asking, sorry it took me longer than I expected to post.

Question about Invitations vs Associates

If a friend accepts the invitation, signs up & creates a profile, are they also automatically added as an Associate?

Greg - no.  If they accept the invitation, they join the network under you.  You will be awarded a % of their points based on their contributions.  Associates are a separate item.  To add an associate, there is a button above every members photo on their profile page, this is where members add associates.  :-)

Hi Brad,

I recently invited someone that for some reason couldn't sign up through my invite so he went and signed up on his own....anyway to get credit for it?  Just curious.  I am mostly glad he is here but would love to get a few points too, ya know? :o)

If I click on MY little ActiveRain Invite like ActiveRain says:

Referral link contained a username (Columbusoh) not in our system.

Really?  My referral link is: http://activerain.com/action/referrals/columbusoh

I've had it for a long time but noticed the Username not in our system message a while back. I don't see why it would say that.

Aron - you just add a graphic to your post like you normally would, using the little tree Icon on the post toolbar, then once the image is loaded, click on it one time, and select the chain link icon from the toolbar to add your custom link.  Members can use any image to do this, and many are already. Hope that helps. :-)

Howdy there Brad

I have lost count of the folks in my area that I have invited to join the AR community, and have not joined, some have out right said theres no way they will join. The bigges reason I get, is they would have to pay to have their info to go out to the public. Then others have told me they have visited the community, and theres to many members that just go around telling others they don't do this or that right, in the comments they leave on the blog posts of new folks. So I'm sure sorry, that I have a 0 next to my invite. But I have been doing my best.

Wow, talk about a post and blast from the past.  I hadn't seen this post for days.  Looks like someone featured it, and I was surprised to be getting comments in my email a year and a half later.  Cool!  :-)

@Dale - your comment reminds me of the song "signs"  Do this, don't do that, can't you read the sign? lol~  I would have to guess that the percentage of those folks blogging about what to do or what not to do is minor in comparison to some of the other great content members are posting here.  :-)

Don't feel bad about the 0, I have invited over 5000+ since being here, and I think I only have a little over 100 who saw the light rain!

Howdy and Evenen Brad

Thank you kindly for your reoly back to my comment!!! I like that there song, its a real hoot. I think you may have missed understood what I use a sayen, I was not talken about blog posts, but the comments that some of the AR members leave on the blog posts of others. Some of them point out they were School Teacher at one time they feel thay. Will lets say have the right to go around with a red pencil, and grade the work of others. For those of us that have been here for sometime, we can hold our own with them. But for a new member, its a whole other story. Just like the other day, we had some new members in AZ. taken a AR blogging class there, they even said they were. And here comes along one of those red pencil totten members, getten on to them about not doing things right, like the way they were spacen in there comments. Helpping others is one thing, but to just go-en around getten on to others is another. And when a new sayes they are in a class doing their blog post, I sure feel that those so called Teacher members we have should leave then alone. Will am running out of breath, so I'll stop now. As you know I don't usually write real long comments like this. Hope you have a mighty fine week!!!
