You can call them whatever you want, they are still Land Sharks!

By
Real Estate Agent

I-buyersLand shark knocking at your door! I still remember vividly the skit on Saturday Night Live. But in the real estate world, there are plenty of sharks out there to be wary of. Let's just talk about a new group of 'real estate disruptors'.

I-BUYERS

They can't wait to turn the real estate market upside down but really, they just want entry into your wallet. I-Buyers are companies that come out & buy your home in any condition but offer a quick close. Most of the time no repairs need to be done by the seller.

Seems almost perfect doesn't it?

But underneath what is going on? That company is taking advantage of your need for the quick fix. I don't want the hassle is going to come with a price. I can't stand the emotional connection with selling Mom & Dad's house is going to come with a price.

It's hefty & in my experience I've seen it vary a lot. Each time I've investigated one of theseI-buyers sales I can't believe what these companies have bought them for.

A recently published post said the land sharks sales, oh I mean I-Buyers, have dropped 88% for the 2nd Quarter of 2020.

That's a good thing for consumers on the whole. No, I am not going to name names & give these guys any advertising or mention. The real estate sector is booming & these guys can't get in on the game.

Good.

If you list & market your home through me, I will get you every dollar possible & in a reasonable market time. No shark suit here.

Lyn,

Good post.  We have watched this kind of stuff appear and disappear as time goes one.  And yes, the consumer is usually at a disadvantage...No need to name names, we all know who they are...A

Hello Lyn - A classic SNL sketch!  The reality of snake oil sales in many varieties is a part of real estate and real life that reminds us that being/staying aware is a good part of life.

Hi Lyn- I too thought of the classic SNL skit. Larry and I were talking about something like this today. A friend sold his home to move closer to family and we were hoping that someone was there to guide him through this and not someone who would take advantage of him.

too many people opening up that will take advantage of people I think. But if you want it quick with no work, maybe this is the way for you but you won't be even close to top dollar.

It saddens me that they have scammed so many people and the scam is so good they even have people thinking that they got a good deal, haha.

Hi Lyn Sims

I see these commercials all the time and it makes my stomach turn.  These are the type of operators that give REALTORs® a bad name.

Hi Lyn Sims what a great topic and, of course, well written post....

homeowners in your area should be calling and thanking you for educating them on the "land sharks".... and in the same breath as the thank you should be "I want you to list my home".......

Lyn Sims - They are worse than ambulance chasers! Their motive is always the same - to take advantage of the most vulnerable.

In your market area, you're the best hawk eye when it comes to predators. You always look out for your clients respectifully and honorably.  In Lyn, I trust.
