YouTube Thursdays - Wildfires in the Pacific Northwest
Heavy smoke and hazardous air quality at our home in Camas remind us of wildfires burning in California, Oregon and Washington. People can't seem to agree as to the why, but changing weather patterns obviously come into play. Increasing temperatures, drought conditions, and gusty, erratic winds create the perfect wildfire storm, so to speak.
We have been housebound for a week now due to the air quality. Honestly, aside from Finnegan's (Our 5.5 month old golden retriever puppy) pent up energy, we feel lucky. After all, we have a home. Our hearts ache for the people who lost theirs to the fires. And others, who wait in temporary shelters for the go-ahead to return home. Some have no idea if their house will still be standing.
Our thoughts also go out to the exhausted firefighters who battle these blazes, at times, non-stop for hours. This YouTube video caught our eye this morning. It brought tears to me ( Debb ), as it underscores the resilience of the human spirit. And, the harmony of camaraderie and teamwork. They hope the video goes viral - we do too.
The good news, weather folks say rain is on the way. Showers and potentially severe thunderstorms should show up tonight, with heavy rainfall tomorrow.
