There is no light without shadow

Real Estate Agent with Jameson Sotheby's International Realty

This week has been all about chasing people.  Chasing lenders, chasing appraisers, chasing attorneys.

Our market is as busy as it's been for quite a while.  Well-priced properties are flying off the shelf, and that's causing a little traffic jam down the road.

Getting appraisals done on properties that I've sold.  Getting the appraiser to show up is one step... and once that's been done... getting the actual report is yet another.

Chasing the lender, once the apprisal has been done... getting those results... getting that clear-to-close.

Chasing attorneys to return my calls...

Everyone's busy, everyone's jammed, but here's the thing.  So am I.  And it doesn't help my jammed schedule when I have to chase everyone.

Ain't nobody returning my calls (I'm so sorry, I was just slammed)... ain't nobody reaching out to my clients (hey, I recommended you to them... you're making me look bad.).

I am tired of being a skip-tracer.  Anyone else chasing shadows?

don't let anyone tell you that we don't earn our commission

I don't have to tell you Alan May,

the Real Estate market is hot as can be. Everyone is slammed yet people must find a way through the bureaucracy.

right.  we can't allow our lack of hours in the day to let people's lives fall through the cracks.

Hi Alan- it has been my experience that there are some people who forget that they are only the center of their  own universe.

... or more importantly... that they're holding people's lives in their hands.

Why are agents chasing their partners in their business? The goal is to close transactions quickly and easily, yet, some agents will choose to increase their compensation by selecting partners with lower fees, yet, end up with unhappy clients while experiencing tremendous stress and inefficiency.

Wouldn't you prefer a stress less transaction, closing quickly and with satisfied clients? Don't bite off more than you can chew and select your partners with your expectations to perform with exceptional service. Your success depends on your choices, so, choose wisely and you won't be chasing your partners.

Sometimes you don't get to pick the partners who are making your life crazy - hope next week is better.

Yep....a sale didn't happen yesterday because the appraiser decided to cancel the job two days before the report was due. It is rescheduled for Tuesday. I hope he makes the appearance and gets the report done. The lender needs 7 days after she receives the appraisal before closing can occur. Currently set for September 30, but I doubt that will happen unless he miraculously writes the report overnight!

that's quite a delay.

Sometmes are partners are just not available, no excuse for those that understand deadline dates ... for those that we have some control of, have a couple back ups.

some of those 'partners', if they've accepted the assignment, there just is no excuse for not being available.

I will say I followed up via text with two couples who recently bought homes here in KC -both from out of town.  I've checked in twice and no response--just seemed a bit odd as we all got along great.  I am struggling with keeping in touch with pp during the pandemic.  Need to get creative.

true enough.  when you figure out just how creative we need to be... will you let me know?
