Bed Bath & Beyond to Close Gaithersburg, Maryland Store

Bed Bath & Beyond will close three stores in Maryland this fall. The locations are among 63 locations nationwide the housewares chain said it would shutter by the end of this year.

The story was first reported on Friday by USA Today.

The Bed Bath & Beyond stores in Maryland scheduled to close by Dec. 31 are:

  • Gaithersburg: 558 N. Frederick Ave.
  • Hanover: 7000 Arundel Mills Circle
  • Salisbury: 2653 N. Salisbury Blvd.

Bed Bath & Beyond's senior manager for public relations, Jessica Joyce, called the move "an important step in our multi-year program to create a sustainable, durable business and invest where it matters most to our digital-first customers and our people."  Gaithersburg Patch

Good morning, Roy... I had heard that Bed Bath & Beyond will be shutting down a lot of stores. Really a shame. I'm not one who likes to shop on-line... I like to see and touch things up close and personal.

I don't shop there very often, but I get their coupons in the mail all the time.  I went in there the other day to use one of their coupons but I couldn't find a single thing that I needed and was worth using the coupon on, haha.

Roy Kelley - There are store closings here too. Pier Import closed the doors for good yesterday. A popular woman's department store did too. I have a feeling, a lot more people will be unemployed and many more vacant commerical buildings too.

It is not a surprise, from a commercial real estate perspective.  It was at the time the idea of expanding in every nook and cranny.  We have one in town and we have been there once in the 12 years we have lived here. A

They probably want to do online ordering and close more stores. Most retailer are heading that way.

All the best.
