U.S. 31 to reopen this afternoon
Tuesday, June 17, 2008
June 17, 2008 - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) today announced that US-31 between Manistee and Scotville, in Mason County, will re-open later today. However, MDOT will restrict wide loads to 10 feet, in order to completely finish the repair work. Traffic will utilize two of the three lanes of US-31 which is expected to re-open shortly after 12 p.m. today.
Late last week, MDOT closed US-31 and detoured traffic using M-55, M-37, and US-10 because of a heavy downpour overnight that dumped nearly a foot of rain in the area causing the road to wash out.
The emergency repair work will cost approximately $250,000.
