"HELPFUL PEOPLE" in Feng Shui: We ALL Need Them....by Feng Shui Long Island & Manhattan

By
Home Stager with Feng Shui Manhattan Long Island #888

As a New York Feng Shui Consultant who utilizes the Bagua Method along with Western and ‘Black Sect' methods to have all Feng Shui principles in order, I have seen one area of the Bagua that is often neglected.  To me AND to the clients I advise, this is often the most important area (next to health)-it is called simply "HELPFUL PEOPLE."

I often wonder where we would be in life without them.  They can be strangers who just seem to "show up" in your life when you need them the most or they can be old or new friends that are truly there to help you.  I address this area often and somehow, magically, they always appear.

I was thinking of this the other day as I was struggling with yet another issue on my own home---and the fact that it's been going on so long.  Sheron Cardin - how2homestage.com RESA offered me (and my dogs) a place to stay when I was ill from the mold.  It was  Jo-Anne Smith-Belleville, Quinte and Prince Edward Region Real Estate, Ont. who gave me another perspective:  Maybe it's time to "Let Go" of the circumstances with my home, maybe my house was trying to tell me something.

At the time, I wasn't ready to hear it.  And tried to progress with it although roadblocks kept preventing me from what I wanted to do.  This Sunday night (Father's Day) I had yet another incident with my home and needed to speak to someone who has a knowledge of the Long Island market and could give me some advise and information.  I could think of one person that I have never spoken to on AR but that I felt would be able to give me the best direction.

Laurie Mindnich  of Option's Realty was the one I reached out to.  She'd just had a wonderful featured post that day:    Since When Are Buyers Entitled to Commission?   and I knew not only was it Father's Day but her baby granddaughter is due any day.  I felt terrible but had a crew of people showing up at my house the next morning and emailed her anyway.

She called me back in a very short time and I explained all the issues....and the work that was supposed to be done the following morning.  I had no way to reach these people to stop them from coming and the issues with my home had become overwhelming.  Laurie spent well over an hour on the phone with me giving me her best possible advice (and calming me down along the way).  She advised me exactly how to proceed and what I needed to do......A plan---exactly what I needed.

When we fianlly hung up I felt very much relieved.   As my daughter and I were speaking later, she said "You know, Mom, from a Feng Shui perspective, this house is relating to your health.  The basement hasn't been well, YOU haven't been well and it's time to Go.  I know what you would advise your clients."

Finally, it hit me that every ONE of my "helpful people" had been right all along.  I had been ill from the mold, a hospital stay and things that no one can quite find a reason for:  swollen ankles, a tooth infection.  Yes, Laura, it is, finally time to go.

Energy rises....and I am particularly connected to my home and its energy.  With Laurie's helpful advice which was to find a realtor who knows my area, I called a good friend and former Feng Shui Client Lisa Arato of Century 21, American Homes.  She called me back the very next morning, found out the "stats" on my home and advised me who to call to get a thorough assessment so I can move ahead and proceed with OPTIONS (That's for you, Laurie :) I hadn't even thought of.

This is not just another "acknowledgement post."  This is a post about Helpful People, whether you are a Feng Shui Consultant in New York City or someone who knows nothing or little about Feng Shui anywhere in the Country.  When you acknowledge the "Helpful People" in your life, more are sure to follow.  They start "coming out of the woodwork" as one of my clients wrote to me recently.  Soon, they are everywhere.

Friendship

Do you acknowledge all the helpful people in your life?  And remember to add to them as the list grows?    Thank you to Laurie Mindnich, Sheron Cardin, Jo-Ann Smith, Lisa Arato and my wonderful daughter and Feng Shui Consultant Laura Cerrano for making me finally SEE what I should have known all along.

Carole, it is so funny how we can "see" what is best for others, but have trouble when it comes to our own personal homes and transactions.  I hope you are feeling better and glad you have a plan to start on.

Aloha Carole,

Is there a good resource to learn a little about the differences among the methods feng shui? Feng Shui comes up in Maui from time to time and would like to have some modicum of knowledge on the subject.

Carole ~ I think you probably said it best when you state: "At the time, I wasn't ready to hear it".  You just weren't ready until recently and unfortunately, it may have taken all the health issues and home issues for you to see it.  It seems that once you were ready to hear it, you are moving full steam ahead.  I wish you all the best as you move forward.  Let me know if I can help out in any way.

Carole -- this is a very important point you make --sometimes I find that some of the most helpful people appear when least expected -- and people who you may not even know that well.  I am glad to know that you have gained more clarity and are ready to move forward - it should be a great adventure.

Hi Carole,

This is big news! I'm glad to hear that you are now in a place to hear what your 'helpful people' who care about you were trying to tell you in their own way.  Life is precious and our health is one of the most important, if not THE MOST important thing we have.

As always, I'm in your corner and here for you anytime you want an ear or a friend's outlook.

Carole, this topic reminded me about the physician who is their own worst patient. You as knowledgeable about energy as you are finally got to listen to the voices around you. I hope you decide what's best. Acknowledging all our little helpers is a very good idea which I try to practice often.

Carole, I believe that some people come into our life for a reason... mostly to help us at our "trying times". They are messengers from God coming to give us a helping hand.

Carole- AH, the helpful people area. Our home office is in a large portion of this area, a great place for an office! I still have a few small details to take care of but other than that it feels and looks great. Good luck in the sale of your home, you can always move down here;) No more snow!

Hi Carole:  Mold is a terrile thing and I too had health problems like never before when I worked in a computer lab at one of the local schools.  It was so eaten up with mold and I couldn't understand why my health suddenly took a nose dive.  I actually had a doctor advise me to quit that job which I did.  I hope you find the solution you need but for sure, you must get a way from that mold.

Hi Carole,

I am glad to hear that you have a plan. It sounds like the energy in your home is draining you and making you sick. You will always have a connection to the home you love but you have to worry about your own health. As hard as it will be for you to do, you have made the right choice.

Carole I wish I was closer to you I would have been so there. I have learned to be Thankful for the good and the bad , but you have gone through so much, perhaps the energy you have created in that house is what have kept it from being worse...But perhaps it is time to move on ! Love You

Fernando

PS Everything happens for a reason!

Audrey, Thank goodness for those Helpful People who do really care and can see (and be honest!) about things you can't or won't yet :)

Pete, There is not a book that' I'm aware of that explains all the different schools of thought on Feng Shui.  I will write a post about some of the more popular ones but it depends on which method(s) a Feng Shui Practitioner has been taught. (There are so many and they are very different, it's easy to see why so many people are confused).

Kathy, My father always taught me not to quit until I can say I've done everything I can.  I can say that right now!

Joan, Funny, I was thinking it will certainly be an interesting adventure.  Things happen for a reason---not sure what this is yet but I hope I find out :)!

Jo, You have already helped more then you know!  I'm moving next week, bringing some new things that I purchased inexpensively that will work--and looking forward to it :)!  Thank you for all those ears you gave and really wonderful thoughts and ideas.

Gary, I do know this is the best decision for me--for now.  It will give me a chance to change the energy while having the house taken care of.  I have seen over and over again when you acknowledge people, more come out, it amazes me every time!

Joan, I am moving out temporarily...wonderful little apartment only a few towns from here that is sunny and bright.  Then I can work on this house (and have it worked on) while not being in it and surrounded by it every day.  I'm thrilled!

Jeff, When I started hitting road blocks everywhere I should have known....funny that your house can be like another one of your "kids"  --  using up all your time and energy.

Arina, That's a beautiful thought and they sure came to help me--at all hours,  I bless these people and many more every single day.

Katerina, I just might look down there :)  That is a wonderful place to have a home office, when I see that or the wealth area I always know a particular person will do exceptionally well!

Donna, It took them a YEAR to find out what it was---in spite of the fact I had told all my doctors of the mold in my home.  They did not want to test me for it.  Some people are fine with it and it was deadly to me.  It's gone, all of it and while getting the home rebuilt it's best to leave.

Deborah, I am so ready, it's a good move and a good time for me to do this...I can be more productive in other surroundings while I take care of what needs to be done.

Trace, It truly was draining me because it was always surroinding me.  I can make better decisions from another place I'm sure (and feel better!)

Fernando, Thank you!  I know everything happens for a reason, I'm so grateful I had such wonderful help and I have a plan....all of which I'm thankful for!

Hi Carole,
It's always easier to see what others should do.  Most of us have a blind spot when we look in the mirror.  Isn't it nice to have friends that help us remove the blinders?
