Idaho has best prices for home insurance

According to InsWeb, Idaho has the best prices in the country for home insurance. When you compare $457 in Idaho to $1,372 in Texas you can see one of the reasons so many people are flocking to the Gem State. Insurance companies feel like this is a safe place to have a home, and those of us who live here tend to agree.

Weather is comparatively mild compared to other places in the country. Hurricanes and tsunamis are unheard of, tornadoes and damaging hail are very rare, there are some volcanic areas but they are largely dormant. It's really pretty nice here.

Non-weather damage is also low. Crime is lower than many more populated areas, and people are fairly friendly here.

Come to visit or come to stay, Idaho is a pretty nice place to be!

Hi, Chris. My husband and I have been thinking of moving to Idaho for quite some time. We're both California people, so we're not too used to snow in the winter.  My husband's a contractor and and avid dirt bike rider (he's 47 and an ex pro), but he doesn't feel that the workforce is very strong there.  Where do you think would be a good starting point to find out about available work in your fair city?

In the greater Boise area of Southwest Idaho there is a cold couple weeks in January when we can get an inch or so of snow, it rarely lasts more than a few days. This past winter was one of the snowiest in decades but still it was measured in inches and not feet like so many other places. Many winters we don't really get snow at all. Its only an hour or so to the ski slopes, though, so you can always get your fix if you really need it. Summers are warm in the high 90's to low 100's but it's dry so it is much more comfortable than the muggy heat you can find in the South and East.

Employment always changes, but has been pretty strong. I just checked unemployment at labor.idaho.gov and it is currently 3.6 and there are several construction jobs under the job search. It seems like there is always a job for someone who knows what they are doing and doesn't mind actually working for a living! :-) Check out idaho.gov for a lot of great information or check out the links page on my site.
