Today, I had a nice conversation with a Katy homeowner. In the morning, he has his tax protest hearing with the Fort Bend County Appraisal District. We visited about the solds in his immediate area; I ran data on the houses closest to his, in size and age, and we discussed how he might successfully protest his taxation value.
With the lyrics from "The Tax Man" by Lennon/McCartney running through my head, I continued to brainstorm on how he might bring his appraised value down to a more reasonable amount. When I got home this evening, I emailed him the details and photos of specific houses that might be of help to him. It was very easy for me and I enjoyed helping him.
I don't understand how a layman prepares a protest without the help of a Katy Realtor. Ascertaining the true market value of homes is what we do prior to each listing appointment. This is the same information that you will need when protesting your property taxes.
