I Mean...Really???

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Evolution - 447 Boston Street, Suite #5, Topsfield, MA 92593-B

So far the first 5½ months of 2020 have been a really wild ride. January was a good month then February rolled around. This is not a pretty story.

I took sick (flu), recovered then got really, really sick. So sick it took Pam down with me for a good 10-14 days. During that time COVID-19 made itself known. It was a pandemic and I had never heard the phrase, "We live in unprecedented times" so many times. We received multiple calls from our 3 sons reminding us we are NOW OLD (no we're not!!) and instructed us we have to stay indoors. Whoa, Whoa, Whoa, when was that torch passed on?

It took ½ of March to fully recover and get used to going to meetings via ZOOM, Go To Meeting, & Blue Jeans, AND just WHY does everyone like to schedule meetings on Wednesdays? We were locked down and adjusting to doing business in a different manner. The government had shut down the economy BUT Real Estate, in  our neck of the woods, chugged right along

Meanwhile, I got my taxes to the taxman way before 15 April which surprised my tax guy...lol. He's used to filing extensions and doing mine for October! We were filed before 15 April THEN the government extended the filing date to 15 July...lol

NEXT, was Murder Hornets and a bug that only emerges every 17 years and could cause extensive damage to vegetation, ALL on top of tick season and tics that carry all kinds of diseases. We nearly lost our youngest to a tick-borne disease *Babesiosis* AND, in Massachusetts, we have to be on the lookout for the Eastern Equine Encephalitis  EEE mosquito.  Here's the quartet.

My heart grew despondent as we witnessed a police officer murder George Floyd which brought on protests & violent demonstrations all over the country. This has caused further division in the country since politics and media hype exacerbates the issues. What is happening to the country so many fought and died for?

WHERE'S MY STIMULUS CHECK?? We finally got ours last week. Nearly threw the darn thing away since it looked like a piece of junk mail! PHEW! Good thing we didn't. I guess lots of folks have! Instead of a check, we received a debit card so I transferred the proceeds into our bank account.

ALL during this first 5½ months of 2020, The Massachusetts Real Estate Market just CHUGGED along. It was the Little Engine That Could... even with lower than low inventory, masks, gloves, virtual Open Houses and showings (for many), booties, disinfectants, AND a big Thank You Lord for Electronic Signatures.

These were the adjustments we made to keep doing business. We were OPEN just Differently. The Realtor® Community rallied together and We Got It Done AND even had some fun along the way. I'll be glad when we're not required to physically distance ourselves from one another. I mean, it's good to be able to gather, but 6 feet just lacks the intimacy we are used to, ya know what I mean?

I wonder what the 2nd half of 2020 will bring?

No predictions here other than with all this manure there has to be a pony around here someplace, right? =:o)

I'm using this as my entry into the June contest

It has been one different year so far! My and husband were sick in March and April, thanking GOD that neither one of us was hospitalized and mine wasn't as bad as my husband. My COVID19 only last 7 days, in which my husband had pneumonia with his and he was sick for at least three weeks. We can now say, we kicked the virus's butt, and we are standing strong. Blessings to you and so glad that you guys overcame this too.  We can only pray for the next six months will be better soon.

Graziella Bruner You BOTH had the COVID-19 virus? We couldn't get tested but there was a really bad flu bug in our area that was kinds mimicking COVID. Our kids say we had it Glad you each pulled through

Yes, we both had it, mine wasn't as bad as my husband's, I didn't need any meds, just rest and Nyquil worked for me. Being that my husband had pneumonia with his, that had him all 3 different types of meds. Thanking GOD, we are at our 100 now.

It took a bit but we both recovered Jeff Dowler, CRS They did not test us as there was no testing in Feb in our area unless we were hospitalized. You are right about keeping a positive attitude

We should be grateful and thankful we're survivors amidst the most horrific catastrophe certainly in my lifetime. We shall IMO overcome the pandemic and adapt to our circumstances and adopt new methods and continue our nation's history of economic abundance.

Certainly, there are elements that are causing strife and chaos in some parts of our nation, yet, I'm optimistic that the silent majority will rise up and stop the chaos. In a few months we'll know where we're headed, so, the outcome will be up to all of us.

Glad to see you coup with the pedermic and seem do fine. I went through 2 other just as deadly virus/flu.  Actually if you count Aids from the 80s, that is 3.  Business was as usual. Many people either forgot the deadly wild duck flu that caused over 100K death with no media or technology keeping people informed. Of course there was no shut down or demonstation taking down statues.

Hi Sam Shueh I think you and I may be on the same page, pretty much. I, too, can remember other pandemics that killed more people and we didn't shutdown
