Take a quick drive up Awalau Road in Haiku Maui
It won't take long to drive the mile or so from the famous Hanzawa's Store to the end of the road. It's a charming little country road with tall trees and tropical plants lining the road.
Today we were helping a friend with his little cattle ranch (17 acres) so I decided to film some of the drive to help show you what Awalau Road looks like. This is really the country - with small and large farms, some beautiful country estates, and some simple homes too.
For anyone looking for a peaceful lifestyle where you can really sprawl out and do your own thing, this part of Maui is the right fit. It's very laid back, with a mix of people who love their privacy, love to be with nature, and maybe own some horses or other livestock.
You can usually find a home or two, and maybe even some land for sale here. The prices are pretty good too, since it's a little further from the beaches and resorts. You can be isolated, yet not far from the great little grocery store/deli/gas station on Kaupakalua Road - Hanzawa's.
Let me know if you're thinking about buying or selling in this area.
