GET RID OF THE COPS?

There is a movement to de-fund, reduce or eliminate Police. The public is amazed that this is being put forth and making news and headway in some cities. I am sure there are people who will vote for this and I have prepared a list for your quick reference. Consider the list and even add your own. De-fund the police groups take a listen:

1. All criminals believe this to be over due. Long has law enforcement interfered with their activities and it is time to give equal rights to all those planning and carrying out crimes so they can get away with it. After-all, this is the land of the free and opportunity is it not?

2. Gangs believe this to be a very good move as they are organized, widespread and in place plus they have weapons and require very little supervision just compliance. They will now handle disputes before, during and after thus eliminating that pesky court system

3. Russia, China and Iran as well as others believe this to be a very good step to making America more of the land of the free and to allow everyone to express themselves. Their stance is we don't use law & order and we are doing just fine says their leaders in charge

THE ABOVE ASSAULTS THE COMMON SENSE

1. When law and order first appeared it was from necessity. In our Wild West days, bushwhackers, back-shooters, cattle rustling and horse thieving was out of control. It had no future and people knew this. How can you build on random violence and gun-speak?

2. I am for peace, harmony, sharing-caring, love thy neighbor and all the rest but until everyone does this it is wise to walk softly but be ready for anything sorry to say

3. Even with law and order, we have reoccurring problems of criminal activity so law and order cannot rest, take time-out or close an eye less the bad-guys advance & progress

WHAT WE REALLY NEED

We need good examples of leadership and reform with results keeping score. Lessons in life come from all directions but change for the better starts at the top with example and instructions and emphasized with demonstrating the lesson with action like living it

HOW TO INTERACT WITH A POLICE STOP

It should be taught in school at an early age to everyone how a police stop works in detail. When approached in person or vehicle, whether at home or at work, a trusted procedure should go into effect. Then, when police see that procedure, they respond with theirs

HOW TO INTERACT WITH A CITIZEN

Equally important for law enforcement is being taught and trained as to how to conduct an investigation, inquiry or interaction so that the citizen knows what they are doing and why. This should be common, natural knowledge & practice. Education does work for both

FOR CITIZENS NOT COOPERATING

The police then go into phase two of training consisting of repeating clear-orders and alerting preventative measures to control the interaction. Any resistance then triggers activation of command & control to subdue, restrain & bring order in the moment

FOR POLICE WHO DO NOT IMPLEMENT TRAINING

An investigation conducted as an inquiry is introduced. This is easier today because of body cameras. However, let us be aware that cameras only kick in at a certain point leaving out what happened before hand (the cause) that leads to the effect

HERE IS WHERE IT GETS DICEY FOR EVERYONE

All systems, education, response and activity is dependent on the individual and we are all subject to what we do and why in that moment which appears to us to be what was necessary right or wrong in its aftermath. It comes down to people-interaction: a wild card

ONE THING MAKES GOOD SENSE

Having a job, responsibility & filling a persons time with productive things to do affords them less time for wandering or getting into trouble. Education or training for career or productive work like on the job or trade schools has proven effective in launching many a good person into the job-fields. Anyone who is busy with life in a positive way prospers

POLICE, TEACHERS AND JUDGES

This is where juvenile delinquents end-up from parental failing or misdirections making it a strangers or third parties problem to deal with. A persons character or lack thereof is formed at an early age and is not only unique unto them but only known to them too

REHABILITATION

Rehabs for short are very effective for bringing change & transformation but one problem persists with this approach. One must be willing to accept and enter into these programs willingly. Jails and prisons may stop someone but doesn't teach change only survival

FOR NOW...

I wouldn't get rid of or change anything until we have a system of change waiting in the wings to receive us. Until then, one should work with what is on hand and use it for better or for worse according to their approach and involvement. We have the ability to respond as well as refine, tweak and improve as we go. Well, lets go then!

Richie so sorry I missed this post, clearly others did too, I blame the haphazardness of the platform... what a great message and I watched some of the so called "leaders" mentioning about defunding, re educating the police... seriously the areas that have high crimes since this movement started had more 911 calls than before... Hello what does that say...Endre

Endre Barath, Jr. ...friend to the many greetings & welcome. I am for being lean, focused & productive but not foolish. We should go slow on the "get rid of" stuff

Excellent post Richie Alan Naggar . I don't know how any sane person can think this is a good idea. Even bad guys call the cops on occasion.
