Thanks to the tourists

Every summer Buena Vista fills up and the traffic takes some getting used to.  Many are here for rafting and kayaking.  The Arkansas river is so full, I can hear it all night from my house.  The bikers are coming here on the Ride the Rockies tour.  The back-country skiers are still working the high-country remains of winter and the peak-baggers are climbing despite the snow.

Then there are the folks just walking the town streets and or course...the folks pulled off by the side of the road to take pictures of the peaks standing more than one mile above the valley floor.  Sometimes we locals forget that we live where other come to play.  How great is that!  Especially since I am a Realtor.

Mal - I can so relate. I live at Lake Powell. Page AZ has about 8000 year round residents, and Eastern Kane County, Utah, about 700. We are close to a small town on the Navajo Reservations as well, of about 1000. Between all these numbers, 9700 people, each year our area sees about 1 million less people than go to the Grand Canyon. If GC gets 4 million, we service 3 million through the south side of Lake Powell. I sure try not to take that for granted that I GET to live here!!

Mal- I also relate. In Big Bear we have a 4 season resort that is 2 hours from all of  Southern California. We are fortunate to live here full time, but sometimes there are inconveniences of traffic etc.
