Positive Thoughts on Our Anniversary
Carol Williams and Anna Banana Kruchten have challenged members of ActiveRain to rise above the pandemic by focusing on the positive elements of our lives.
Today marks a very positive milestone at our home. It is our 55th wedding anniversary. Dolores and I were married on June 12, 1965 in the church my family attended in my hometown, Cradock, Portsmouth, Virginia. I am lucky to have the best wife in the world. We are so fortunate to be able to celebrate this special day because many of our friends and relatives were unable to reach this milestone. I wonder how many of those who will read this post have marriages that have lasted longer than ours.
Dolores and I have been staying at home for the past three months in the social distancing mode. The only other people who have been in our home during this shelter in home period have been workman who were performing needed work. We are fortunate to have a comfortable home and since we are retired, we have not needed to worry about business operations. We have learned a lot about home delivery services and family members have frequently delivered groceries to our front door.
We have missed our regular day trips to locations like Longwood Gardens and visits to our favorite museums. We look forward to be able to visit area wineries and breweries for the tastings we enjoy. We miss getting out to shop and to enjoy the many restaurants in our area and hope that we will soon be able to again enjoy those activities. Dolores wants to do her own grocery shopping and definitely misses her regular trips to Trader Joe's.
We are out of red wine and almost out of white wine. I am anxious to be able to shop at our favorite store for the wine selections that we enjoy.
We fully understand that the new normal may be somewhat different from the normal times of the past. If we can maintain our good heath, we will be ready for many new experiences that will maintain or improve our quality of life.
