My neighborhood friend the moose

Moose by Robert Swetz

Here is one neighborhood moose that comes around in the evenings and eats vegetation on our property in Alaska. 2 years ago this moose was just a little one and has grown up so fast.

One of the main reasons the moose eat around our property all the time is because we love them, talk to them and never try and hunt them ...

Having grown up essentially in DC, I am always amazed to see a moose wandering loose - they are REALLY BIG!  i saw one in Maine just standing by the roadside and I couldn't believe it was not in a zoo!

Good morning Robert Vegas Bob Swetz -  this is great.  Not only that the moose is your own neighborhood one.  Watching him grow must be neat.

Oh wow... and these moose can be really huge. I've seen them wander around in the open in Colorado where our daughter lives, including in the downtown area.

Bob,

What a great shot of your neighborhood moose.  I have seen them in national parks, they are definitely big.  A

When my sister lived in Alaska, she often talked of moose encounters.  I especially remember her telling me that during the great Alaska Earthquake in the 1960s, that rails from the railroad track that ran in back of their property, snapped and would fly several feet into the air.

She also mentioned a moose which often frequented their yard, became angry because a tree kept moving back and forth.  The moose repeatedly butted it!

Hi Robert Vegas Bob Swetz - I just can't get over how big they are.  I did see a moose up close in Alaska and was surprised at their size.

I would love to see one in person...at a safe distance of course.
