The new normal in life and work...
It is like we all had to learn a whole new language and a whole new way to work when this unprecedented time hit us in March 2020. I read in this article by Texas Medical Center, that even dictionaries had to make and an unscheduled update to the dictionary for all the new words!
I sheltered in place for most of March & April washing my hands constantly, hoping I was not asymtomatic, cleaning closets, making new recipes and binge watching shows. Our office had ZOOM meetings to keep us up to date on the market, COVID 19 and motivational talks. Since our Real estate and property management business was deemed essential during this pandemic I was not stuck at home totally. I showed vacant homes with social distancing, masks & sanitizer ready! I arrived early, opened the door & when the clients arrived I stayed far from them, telling them to go in and have a look around. Once they viewed and came out, we discussed from afar. Then I locked up wiping down doors and light switches ! Gosh forbid we created a community spread! I also sold a new construction home site unseen using video for out of state clients that had to move here for a job!
Yes we were all trying to flatten the curve and get used to this is the new normal of not shaking hands and wearing gloves. People did not even try to shake hands or come close to me. No one wants to be quarantined or have to have a ventilator to breathe so staying 6 feet apart was welcomed. The fact is in these difficult times people still needed to move for jobs, to be closer to home and or to change schools!
The gas prices have been amazing and interest rates are really low during this national emergency, I closed two clients last month at 2.99% & 3.00%. I had one client qualify for 2.5% last week! So even though we all are apprehensive about what is going to happen over the summer and this fall, I believe the housing market will still be strong in Texas hopefully with no lockdowns or coronavirus increases!
