Rising Above... Minding My P's & Q's & a Z

-Gail Sheehy

The Pandemic has required all of us to make adjustments and I've been minding my P's & Q's and a Z.

Positive:
I'm a serial optimist and I've been able to look at the Pandemic in a Positive way. I've kind of enjoyed figuring out how to manage life in a little different way. It's been a bit of a game with me.  I learned how grocery and take-out delivery works. And, of course, like most people I've done more online shopping. Although I do like to support local business whenever possible I've enjoyed having things delivered to my door.

Plenty:
I have an attitude of plenty and try to focus on what I do have and not what I don't have.  I am fortunate enough to have lots of storage in my house and a full-size freezer.  I don't particularly like to shop so I keep myself well-stocked on various supplies and food.  I never felt any stress over lack of plenty.  I tracked my blood pressure the entire time and the only time it went up is when I spent too much time watching the news. I found a balance between staying informed and not getting overwhelmed.

Passion and Planning:
Since January I've been developing a plan to create a national database of women golfers who can connect as we travel. As many of you know, golf is my Passion.  I've had plenty of time to make progress on my plan to combine travel with golf. I currently have a smartphone app in development. The app will be a key component of my Travel Network.  There is a lot more in the works about all of that but I won't go into detail on this post!

Pedometer:
Spending so much time at home, I found myself at my computer a lot and not getting any exercise. I downloaded a step-counter app so I could track my daily activity. I'm a very goal-oriented person and found myself constantly striving to exceed previous records.  I finally deleted the app June 1st because I was getting too competitive with myself!

Quad:  That's my Quad of P's as I have navigated the Pandemic so far.  I am extremely glad things are starting to open and we can all get out more.  I've been playing golf again for about a month.  It all comes down to Quality of Life!

Zoom: I know many people are "Zoomed out" but I've enjoyed having Zoom meetings when there was no other way to meet during the Pandemic. I've been doing anywhere from 2 - 4 Zoom meetings each week.  I think it's awesome we've been doing weekly Zoom meetings for ActiveRain members. I've met some of you in person already and I hope to meet many more in the near future. More to come soon about that.

This is my entry in the June Challenge: Rising Above the Pandemic

Stay healthy and happy!

Hey Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS
I may have my P's & Q's in order but the "W" is a whole 'nother story!  Our Governor and the mayor of Seattle are making a mess of that!

I guess I've been a widow long enough I've learned to do without hugs.

That was a sobering scene in the movie, wasn't it?  I need to go back and rewatch the Shawshank Redemption. Thanks for stopping by!

I share your serial optimism, Carol and truly do my best to surround myself with those like us. Life is just too short to spend it being negative ninnys, isn't it?!

LOVE all of your Ps & Qs and have SO enjoyed seeing you each week on the Z! You know, if nothing else, it's just great seeing everyone smiling and enjoying one another - whether we learn anything or not.

Hello sista Carol Williams I also have discovered online food shopping which I love - Whole Foods delivers right to my door with organic veggies and meat and is actually no more expensive for me than the big brand stores - I am not tired of Zoom -Love it - did my continuing education  Plus I look forward every Tuesday to seeing my Active Rain Friends

I learned this morning that my health club has opened up.  I drove by and saw a couple folks in the pool.  Yet, I'm still a little cautious about going there.  It's not the pool that concerns me, it's the locker room, and the gym itself that I must pass through to get there.  Fortunately, I am able to swim at a family member's house around the corner.  I will continue doing that for a couple more weeks.

My favorite Zoom call was to my granddaughter and the time I was able to spend with her. She lives 5 minutes down the street but I missed her so much. Thankfully we are able to see each other again so life feels normal again.

Hey sista Hannah Williams
I actually think I saved money doing online grocery shopping because I wasn't picking up things NOT on my list.  LOL

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat
I actually stopped going to public fitness centers some time ago. Seems like I often got sick when doing so.  They weren't keeping the equipment sanitized like they're going to be doing going forward. It's probably safer now but I'm still staying away for the foreseeable future... maybe forever.

Hi Pat Starnes-Front Gate Realty
I know the separation has been very difficult on families that are used to spending a lot of time together. I feel for those in nursing homes and assisted living facilities that couldn't have any visitors. Very sad.

Hi Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD
Perhaps one of these days you'll have a chance to Zoom in, if just for a few minutes.  We were discussing the possibility of having you talk to us about multi-generational homes.
