Screaming Agents Not Professional

By
Real Estate Agent with Coldwell Banker

We all have a job to do in our life and it continues to befuddle me that some people who call themselves Real Estate Professionals have the audacity to scream and yell at agents on the other end of the telephone.  I just had such an interaction with a fellow agent.  I remained calm and am pondering what to do.  The screaming was not necessary, as it was about something that was out of anyone's control.  (even if the situation was preventable, screaming is not necessary)  I can't imagine that this is the first time this has happened with the screaming agent.....in fact I know it isn't, as it is common knowledge in my city.  I just wonder how the behavior is allowed to continue.........

The most horrible thing is these agents go on to own their own companies and then there is no one to turn to when they engage in this type of behavior.  Often, they are top producers!

I would have said, I cant hear you, I have a bad connection, ill call you later and hung up.

No need for that to happen to anyone.

Richard:  Thanks for the chuckle:)

Joan: This person is a Top Producer and I wonder if the clients know about the behavior?

Colleen:  I am going to follow your advice for next time:)

It takes all kinds -- I run into them every once in a while --- like any other unprofessional behavior. Beyond the business perspective, they just have a lack of emotional maturitiy and lack of social skills. Seems to be getting more and more common.

I think being an independent employee allows this. No broker is going to step in because they may lose their sales.

This happened to me and I will never forget it. I could not believe how unprofessional the agent was. he called me and started yelling at me over something beyond our control, he was actually ticked off at the buyer's contractor. I calmly asked him if I could speak and when he continued to yell I simply hung up the phone.

He called me the next day and apologized. To this day I still think he's an A**.

Karen - I am with Colleen  on this one.  Unless you are on fire, there is no need to yell.
