Peace and tranquility in today's chaotic world is priceless.
This Balinese inspired sanctuary is perched high above Maui's blue pacific, but feels so close to the water that you could reach out and touch it. This home was designed to embody tranquility and reflects that through the use of various glass treatments, natural wood tones, beautiful styles of stone, and vaulted ceilings to increase the open airy feeling the designers were aiming to capture. This Launiupoko 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home on a main lot is oriented to capture a view of Maui's 3 main neighbor islands.
You'll love the flow of this house. You enter through a large private courtyard that features soothing water features, Balinese sculptures, flowers and greenery. This wide teak French doors draw you into the great room, where you can immediately see the ocean view.
Upon entering, you can immediately see how the use of stone like the Travertine flooring and the caramel and chocolate granite combined with the darker wood and frosted glass cabinetry are used to create a modern look, while still maintaining a tranquil natural feel. The vaulted ceiling and the teak framed sliding pocket doors draw you naturally out onto the 240 square foot lanai that serves as your covered open air dining room.
The master bedroom is perfection. The main area has a king size bed positioned to allow you to wake to your commanding view of the ocean across your pool. The room also has a comfortable seating area, perfect for reading and enjoying a cup of tea before bed. In addition to access to the lanai and pool, a second set of pocket doors lead to another private lanai just for the master suite.
The en-suite master bedroom is sumptuous. The entry wall tiled with tiny cylindrical stones can be only described as spa-like. The vanity features twin stone vessel sinks. The walls are stone tile. The oversized shower is tiled with unique glass tile and finished with a glass enclosure. Another teak framed glass door leads you to a large outside Zen-like garden area where you might like to relax in a grand stone tub and gaze out to the ocean.
Even the dressing area in the master bedroom has beautiful tall closets with glass and wooden doors and a tall window that gives you a view and natural light.
You enter the second master bedroom through another one of the many carved Bali doors that decorate the house. The bed in the bedroom is also positioned to capture the view across the lanai and green garden area. The en-suite bathroom is also tastefully decorated with carvings and tile imported from Bali. One of the owner's favorite features of the house is the outdoor shower. It's large enough to be its own room and completely private, but it still provides you with a beautiful mountain view and allows you to be serenaded by the birds at the same time.
You have easy access to hiking trails in the West Maui mountains and valley of Launiupoko, a short drive to Launiupoko Beach Park and surf break. It is a easy drive to either Lahaina or Kahului if you ever decide to leave.
