Once again it is time to take stock of what I have learned in the previous year. What’s the use of adding another year to your life if you haven’t learned anything!
So what have I learned in the past year? A lot...but here are just a few morsels of life I’ve learned...
~ If you are of a certain age, it does not mean that life stops. Life goes on until it stops. If you want something new for you home and you can...buy it. If you want to try something you’ve never done, then as long as you are physically able to, then do it. Being 70ish doesn’t mean you have to stop and wait to die.
~Treasure every moment you have with your friends and family. I knew that already but this situation we’re in as driven it home even more.
You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old. George Burns
~Life does go on without the NFL or NBA or other pro sports. I used to live for the start of pro sports but the virus and other issues have made me realize that I can enjoy life without them.
~We as a nation are better when we come together than when we complain about every little thing. Other generations have had to endure worse with a lot less.
~I was not made (yet) to have grey/white hair. Yes, I let it go for as long as I could but I was beginning to look like the reverse of Cruella Deville.
Youth is the gift of nature, but age is a work of art. Stanislaw Jerzy Lec
~Hugs really are important. Over the past 6+ months, I’ve seen my family from a distance but it’s so hard not to be able to give a big hug to my mini-me and little Raffe.
I can only hope that I continue to learn and grow and keep the kid in me alive!!!
The secret of genius is to carry the spirit of the child into old age, which means never losing your enthusiasm. Aldous Huxley
And my favorite quote...
The one cool thing with getting older is that you can actively choose to just be an eccentric. Greg Behrendt
